___________
📑 THE METHOD
IMPORTANT: Percentages reflect the total number of INDIVIDUAL official musicians represented on the festival lineup (including every individual member of every group) - not the percentage of diverse acts.
Each musical act is researched to identify all official, permanent members (touring or hired live musicians or non-musican members not included). Every individual is counted and categorized as a woman, nonbinary person, or man based on the most accurate and recent representation of their publicly shared gender identity.
Only official, permanent musicians behind the act are counted. Touring musicians, temporary replacements, dancers, visual artists, and other non-musical collaborators are not included.
Pronouns and identity language in official bios, social media profiles, interviews, and other credible sources are used for categorization. When available information is unclear, we research further or contact the artist or their team rather than make assumptions.
Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Nonbinary, genderqueer, agender, gender-fluid, and similar identities are counted as nonbinary, regardless of assignment at birth.
📜 LEGACY METHOD: Our pre-2024 method. Legacy percentages are calculated using the total number of musical ACTS booked for the festival and the total number of musical ACTS who are or feature at least one woman or nonbinary member.
