The Gleason Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the renewal of its agreement with Rotary Park during its June meeting, continuing the city's partnership in supporting youth recreation and community events.
During discussion, park representatives provided an overview of the facility's finances and ongoing operations. Officials reported that revenues generated through park activities continue to be reinvested into improvements, maintenance, and operational expenses.
The city's proposed budget includes $8,000 designated for Rotary Park. Representatives noted that rising expenses, including insurance costs and fees associated with Cal Ripken baseball participation, continue to impact operations. Despite those increases, officials said the park remains financially stable and committed to maintaining quality facilities for local youth sports programs.
Board members discussed the park's positive impact on the community, including its role in hosting games, tournaments, and recreational opportunities for area families. Recent improvements to the facility were also highlighted as examples of how revenues and community support are being reinvested back into the park.
Following discussion, the board approved moving forward with the agreement, allowing Rotary Park to continue its operations and programming for the coming year.
City officials expressed appreciation for the volunteers and supporters who help maintain the facility and provide recreational opportunities for children and families throughout the community.
