On May 19, 2026, our hearts were shattered as we witnessed the devastating total loss due to a fire at the Humble Hearts Community Resource Center in Dresden, TN, a community initiative of Free Hearts, that launched in Oct 2023, and moved to its present 7,000 sq foot location in March 2024.

Humble Hearts was never just a building, it was a lifeline. People came for essential resources like clothing, household items, toys, diapers, hygiene products, and basic necessities, but they also came for hope. They found support, compassion, encouragement, and a reminder that they were not alone. It was a place where community gathered, connected, did community service, organized, and where second chances and service were lived out every day. Hundreds of families were served yearly in Christmas giveaways, and donations were given to schools, prisons, to our other community resource center across the state, and to hundreds of people who came in the doors during times when they needed it the most.

Over the years, so many of you helped make Humble Hearts what it became. You gave, volunteered, donated, shared our mission, and believed in this work. To every one of you, thank you. Your generosity has always been the heartbeat of Humble Hearts. While the fire took the building, it did not take our mission. We are deeply grateful to our landlord, Mr. Rick Finney, and to the firefighters and emergency responders whose courage and service protected the community during this tragedy. The overwhelming love and support we’ve already received reminds us of one truth: Humble Hearts was never about a building, it has always been about people. We are hurting, but we are not defeated. We are grieving, but we have hope. We will rebuild. As we begin this journey, we need your help more than ever.

Every donation will help us write the next chapter of the Humble Hearts story. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/humblehearts

Our hearts are truly shattered. On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, we witnessed the complete devastation of a place that meant so much to so many, Finney’s Warehouse and the place we called home, the Humble Hearts Community Resource Center. It is hard to put into words what this loss means.

Mr. Finney’s “Warehouse” was not just a building to us. For many, Humble Hearts has been a place to begin again, find encouragement, connect with resources, and experience dignity during moments of transition and hardship.

Over the last 2 1/2 years, Humble Hearts Community Resource Center: A Free Hearts Initiative has served countless individuals and families by providing access to basic needs and essentials, clothing, community support, and other services for people impacted by incarceration, including those returning home from jail or prison.

We want to hold in our thoughts Mr. Rick Finney, as this loss is a personal and painful one for him, too. We are so deeply grateful for his generosity, kindness, and the steadfast support he has shown us. It is because of him that all the work we have accomplished was possible in the first place.

So many of you have helped make Humble Hearts what it became. You gave. You volunteered. You dropped off donations. You shared posts. You sent people our way. You believed in this work.

To every one of you—please accept our profound and heartfelt thank you. Your generosity has always been the heartbeat of Humble Hearts.

We also want to thank the firefighters who showed up and did everything they could to stop the fire from spreading. We are deeply grateful for your bravery, your urgency, and your service. To all the emergency responders who kept us safe during those dark hours: your service is a gift we will never forget.

The outpouring of community love we have already felt from everyone reaching out has reminded us of a powerful truth: Humble Hearts was never about the space, the shelves, or the supplies. It has always been about the people. It is the love we share and the mission we carry forward together.

The fire may have taken the building and our resources, but the spirit that filled the space—our mission—is very much alive.

As we begin to heal and move forward from this tragedy, we need our community now more than ever. If you feel moved to volunteer your time, offer resources, make a donation, share support, or stand with our organization in any way, please reach out. Every act of care will help us continue serving those who need us most.

We are so excited that the new law addressing key financial barriers to restoring voting rights is now officially in effect! 🎉 Governor Lee signed it into law on the 26th, and it’s effective immediately.

This new law removes the requirement to pay all court costs before applying to restore your voting rights 💰❌ and updates child support rules so you only need to be compliant for the past 12 months, not your entire history. ✅

If you’ve lost your voting rights due to a felony conviction, HB0687 | SB0336 could help you take the next step toward restoration. 🗳️💜
