Campbell’s Dr. Chris Holland and Orlando Health’s Dr. Jamie Carvajal cohosted a phenomenal lab at Smith & Nephew, focused on robotics, precision and personalized alignment and kinematics, and hip and knee replacement. Time with top surgeons, engineers, and extraordinary teachers make afternoons like this drive excellent training and excellent care.

Thanks, S+N!

“It’s the most comprehensive review course that’s constantly re-evaluated for quality. They’re able to cover a ton of useful material in a digestible format. And Denver is a nice place to do it.”

Last week, thanks to our partners and Baptist, all eight of our PGY5 orthopaedic surgery residents participated in the JBJS Miller Board Review Course. Lectures, practice sessions, and testing prepare residence for this rigorous exam in July….

Campbell, Vanderbilt, UAMS and West TN Bone and Joint host National Shoulder & Elbow Week Celebration in Memphis

On Thursday, May 14, Campbell Clinic's Drs. Tyler Brolin, Quin Throckmorton and Frederick Azar, joined by colleagues from Vanderbilt, Univ of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and West Tennessee Bone and Joint, hosted the American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons Foundation "National Shoulder & Elbow Week" Celebration and Forum in Memphis.

Thanks to top sponsors Enovis, Zimmer Biomet, Campbell Clinic, Arthrex, DePuy Synthes and 15 additional healthcare partners, more than 125 gathered at Crosstown Concourse to improve shoulder health and patient mobility.

Dr. Throckmorton highlighted how the regional logistics and manufacturing workforce requires healthy shoulders. Coupled with a growing and thriving throwing sports community, the message and call to action could not be more relevant and acute.

With opening remarks by Crosstown Concourse CEO Todd Richardson, Dr. Brolin led the forum, with insights shared by Dr. Throckmorton and Vanderbilt University College of Medicine's Dr. Jed Kuhn.

In addition, Duncan Williams, Chairman of the Greater Memphis Chamber, encouraged collaboration:“Progress happens when everyone participates. When people can stay healthy, recover from injuries, remain active, and return to work, families are stronger, companies are stronger, and our economy is stronger."

The NSEW Memphis event was one of eight across the country. Proceeds will support research grants to expand shoulder and elbow care and innovation.

Campbell Clinic Foot and Ankle clinicians and residents served as faculty for the AOFAS Medical Student BioSkills workshop that was held in Memphis, TN on Saturday, May 2nd. The event took place at the Medical Education Research Institute (MERI) and was sponsored through a grant from Stryker through the AOFAS.

Forty-five medical students represented regional medical schools including UTHSC, UAB, UCF, UMMC, BUCOM, and NYITCOM.

The BioSkills lab provided the opportunity for students to learn about the Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic sub-specialty and why they should consider this path. The faculty presented on how to succeed in Residency, finding Mentors, and Fellowship training. They also focused on Foot and Ankle Anatomy and Biomechanics to prepare the students for the labs.

It’s an honor to partner with our sub-specialty societies like this and build and INSPIRE future healthcare professionals!

The Campbell Clinic Foundation Annual Ingram Lecture was a remarkable event, with a huge thanks to co-directors, Dr. Kirk Thompson and Carson Rider, distinguished Visiting Professor Dr. Jim Ficke, expert panelists and our generous industry partners.

While running was a theme throughout, it was used as both a discussion topic and metaphor for methodical and intentional surgeon leadership, continuous learning, and effectiveness.

The spirit of Dr. Ingram was felt thanks in no small part to the tributes and presence of daughter Dr. Peggy Ingram Veeser and granddaughter Mary-Catherine Burke.

Tributes and well wishes for Dr. Jim Beaty were also shared at the Thursday reception and Friday symposium.

Congratulations to our Class of 2026 residents on their projects, especially Dr. Mateo Kirwan on winning the Resident Research Award!
