Program Advocate Chris is at the annual PINK DAY with SEFA at SUNY Oswego, to promote breast cancer awareness. Staff and students are stopping by, asking questions about the importance of early detection. Average risk individuals should start screening at 40 years old but talk to your doctor if you are unsure if you need to start screening earlier. Regular exams, awareness of your own breasts and reporting changes, can save your life, even for under 40 years old. MEN - it’s important for you to pay attention to your breasts too! In NY alone, about 200 men a year are diagnosed with breast cancer. Remember- NO INSURANCE? NO PROBLEM! Through our Life Longings program, Friends of Hospice in Oswego County is bringing a little extra comfort to individuals facing a life-limiting illness this Thanksgiving.

Our Thanksgiving baskets, filled with turkeys and other thoughtful comfort items, are a small way to show care, kindness, and support during a meaningful time of year.

Because sometimes, it’s the little things that remind us we’re not alone 🍁🍂

Happy Monday! It was a chilly, but beautiful weekend for our CSP outreach staff. Saturday, Carolyn, our program coordinator was at the co****le tournament hosted by IOOB club in Hannibal. The proceeds are being donated to CSP to help cover services needed by people in our community. We are so grateful for their support. Our program advocate, Chris was out Saturday at the Oswego NY YMCA for their Healthy Aging Expo talking to folks in the community about cancer screenings and the importance of early detection. Sunday, she also got to go down to Syracuse and connect with partners that were at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. People from all over the CNY area attend this event and it was great having a moment to catch up with the staff of the Upstate Mammo Van, Kathy from the Saint Agatha Foundation, and some of our friends from the Ho**er Crew. Breast cancer screening means looking for signs of breast cancer before there are any symptoms or problems. A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast that can find breast cancer early when treatment may work best. Beginning at age 40, get a mammogram at least every two years.
