The Fulton Garden Club has developed strong partnerships, including the Sunrise Rotary Club of Fulton. Last spring, Rotary members gave away vegetable seedlings to encourage home gardening over the summer. Now, at our Fall Plant Swap, Saturday, September 19, the Rotary Club will be back to hand out "Spring Seed Starter Packages" for community members to save until next March. Included in each package will be vegetable seeds packs, seed starting soil, and biodegradable planting cups: everything you need to prepare for our next growing season! This partnership is possible thanks to the generous donation of gardening supplies from Walmart of Oswego. Shown in photos are members of Sunrise Rotary of Fulton preparing the packages.

The Fulton Garden Club returned to the park between the Oneida Street bridge and Davis -Standard to continue caring for the Landscaped area there. The Garden Club has been taken care of this section since early summer and it is become a wonderful spot to look out over the river and enjoy the beauty of our community. Stop by and check it out!

Thursday the Fulton Garden Club participated in the Fulton Library's adult summer reading program, "Plant a Seed, Read!" As part of the library's focus on local agriculture and farming, Garden Club members were invited to talk about the origins of the Club, members' motivations for joining the Club, accomplishments of the Club since it began four years ago, and plans for its future. We thank the Fulton Library for offering Club members the opportunity to share what we strive to do in our community

Exciting news!

We're excited to announce ASLF and the Fulton Garden Club have been awarded a NYS DEC EJ Community Impact Grant that will enhance the valuable civic garden club work already going on in the community, and the grant includes a stipend for a local youth intern (beginning 2027) to assist with the nursery and other related program activities. The project goes until 2028 and includes the following:

-Install/upgrade a simple container/grow-bag tree nursery at North Bay (with irrigation)
-Plant a small food forest (20-25 trees or shrubs)
-Remove and replace 5 dead ash trees at Indian Point
-Replace additional 15 missing/dead trees at Indian Point
-Partially restore pollinator garden with river views at Indian Point
-3-5 outreach and education events, workshops, meetings
-Tree giveaways at Fulton Garden Club plant swap
-Stipend for an exceptional local youth intern to assist with nursery maintenance and other grant related tasks
-Production of a nursery management plan
-Final case study/white paper report

Recently, the Fulton Garden Club was honored to receive a generous donation from the Oswego Walmart store. After winding down their seasonal garden supplies and equipment promotions, many unpurchased items were contributed to our Club. These include seed starting supplies such as peat pots, germination kits, and over 500 seed packets! Assisting with this donation from Walmart were employees Ken, Bernadette and Drew. Shown in the photo are Garden Club members Doreen and Teri accepting the donation from Walmart employees Mace and Dylan. Fulton Garden Club has lots of ideas of how to share this wealth of generosity from Walmart. Be watching for upcoming events, such as our Autumn Plant Swap, where participants will be able to also benefit from Walmart's kindness.

The Fulton Garden Club is looking forward to collaborating with the Fulton Library to present a program about our Club activities and goals. As part of the library's Adult Summer Reading Program, a panel of current Garden Club members will present their motivation for joining the club, the types of activities they participate in, and their hopes for future Club activities. Join us as we explore how to continue making Fulton a more beautiful and welcoming community. Thursday, July 30 at 4:30 pm at the Fulton Public Library, Fulton, New York

The Fulton Garden Club recently surpassed an email list of 100 people who are interested in contributing to our club! People of all ages are joining, including Garden Club member Dave Garber's friend Warren, who decided to help us by doing some weeding at a local park. Thanks, Warren, for helping to keep our city beautiful!
