Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. 🇺🇸

At East Frederick Rising, we recognize that building stronger communities through service, unity, and investment reflects the very values Memorial Day represents. As we work to support East Frederick’s residents, businesses, and future growth, we remain grateful for those whose sacrifices made our communities and opportunities possible.

Last night at the Carroll Creek refresh, community members met the design team and gathered to discuss repairs to the hardscape, plantings and a shade structure for the amphitheater. The subject area is divided into three ‘rooms’. Room A covers the western area of Carroll Creek near Mullinex Park, and was envisioned to strengthen its identity as a “true shade garden, designed to thrive with the mature tree canopy.”

Room B covered the amphitheater and areas between Market and East Street, and would receive the first phase of plantings and a new shade structure. The conversation centered on different design options and explanations were given as to how the structures would need to avoid interfering with the flood-control conduits located under the amphitheater.

Room C covers the area East of East Street, and was not well defined in terms of identity. Maybe because East Frederick is still being defined and redefined. However, the recommendation did call for shade tree plantings and sweeping grasses, giving “broad sweeps of feathery texture”, adding movement to the area, while allowing the possibility to transform into more of a shade garden as the trees mature.

Thanks to the Ausherman Family Foundation, the Downtown Frederick Partnership, and the City of Frederick for inviting the public to participate in deciding the future designs that will characterize and strengthen the identity of Frederick for all who visit and enjoy Carroll Creek.

TODAY!
Downtown Frederick Partnership (), in collaboration with the Ausherman Family Foundation and The City of Frederick (), is pleased to invite the community to the Carroll Creek Refresh Community Workshop on Tuesday, May 19. This interactive session offers business owners, residents and visitors a direct role in shaping the future of one of Downtown Frederick’s most beloved spaces.
The workshop will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Municipal Office Annex (140 W. Patrick Street).
Carroll Creek Refresh is a focused initiative designed to enhance, repair, and thoughtfully improve Carroll Creek Park. By assessing current conditions and identifying priority needs, the project aims to develop design concepts – including landscape enhancements and a future shade structure for the amphitheater – that reflect how the community experiences and values the space.
Interactive Workshop Highlights:
Workshop attendees will participate in a hands-on planning process, including:
● Survey Results: A first look at the data gathered from the Carroll Creek community survey
● Draft Concepts: Explore draft concepts for park improvements
● Public Feedback: An opportunity to share specific ideas on key elements such as plantings, hardscape, and shade
Event Logistics & Parking:
The West Patrick Street Public Parking Garage, located directly behind the Municipal Office Annex, will provide free parking for workshop attendees. On-street parking is also available. See less

This week, EFR was honored to help recognize the 30-year milestone of En-Net Services! One of the highlights of the celebration was hearing from employees who have dedicated many years and even decades to the company. That level of longevity reflects a workplace built on strong leadership, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to its team.

Over the years, En-Net Services has grown into a respected nationwide technology solutions provider while continuing to make a positive impact locally here in Frederick.

Congratulations to Kyle Yost and the entire En-Net Services team on this remarkable achievement. Wishing you continued growth and success in the years ahead!

The Frederick Arts Council is seeking artists and artist teams to create a bold, site-specific mural for the historic Dairy Maid Building in Downtown Frederick!

Located at 259 E. Seventh Street, the mural will transform the building’s corrugated steel rear wall into a vibrant public artwork visible to both pedestrians and passing traffic.

Artists within an 80-mile radius are invited to submit proposals that reflect Frederick’s unique character — from its agricultural roots and layered history to its creative energy and forward-looking spirit.

Proposals may be abstract or narrative, contemporary or historical, and should thoughtfully engage with the texture and scale of the space. Prior mural or large-scale public art experience is preferred.

🖌️ Applications due: June 5 at 11:59 PM
📍 Open to individual artists and artist teams
