The mission of the Faith Community Partnership is to facilitate a partnership of faith communities and local service agencies to serve individuals and families of Frederick County. We focus on these areas:
- Build partnerships within the faith community and local service agencies
- Equip the partnership through education, collaboration, and sharing of resources
- Provide opportunities for the fait
h community to serve
- Connect those in need with resources
In 2014, the Faith Community Partnership began its infancy as the Frederick County Department of Social Services (FCDSS) embarked on a new approach to serve families and children in an attempt to bridge the resources of church and state, realizing how both entities were serving the same populations. The first FCP meeting was a group of 8 people who came together with an initial goal to cultivate resources for the Foster Care Unit, supporting transitioning youth in Foster Care and recruiting new resource homes within the faith-based community. Quarterly Breakfast Meetings with faith community members has expanded and allowed different congregations to network and share resources. Agency partnerships have expanded to help those in crisis and those struggling with abuse, neglect, poverty, homelessness, disability, or other hardships.
