This is Sergeant Justin Heflin, a 12-year veteran of the Indiana State Police and a U.S. Marine.

He was shot multiple times by a career criminal in La Porte County Friday, and he still returned fire.

He is a hero and everyone should say a prayer for him and his family as he recovers.

Sergeant Heflin is why I will always back the blue.

Fireworks Reminder for Fort Wayne Residents
As we get closer to the Fourth of July, please remember that the City of Fort Wayne has rules for when and where consumer fireworks may be used.
Fireworks are only allowed during these dates and times around the 4th of July Holiday:

June 29 – July 3: 5:00 p.m. until two hours after sunset
July 4: 10:00 a.m. until midnight
July 5 – July 9: 5:00 p.m. until two hours after sunset

Consumer fireworks may only be used on your own property, on someone else’s property with permission, or at an approved special discharge location.
You must be 18 or older to purchase fireworks. Anyone under 18 may only use fireworks when an adult is present.

Please be safe, be respectful of your neighbors, and follow the law. For non-emergency fireworks complaints, call 260-427-1222. Call 911 only for emergencies, injuries, fires, or immediate danger.
