National Volunteer Week Spotlight ❤️

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we are honoring the heart of the Junior League of Fort Wayne—our volunteers.

For some of our members, volunteering is even more special because it’s shared with family. One of our members shared how meaningful it is to serve alongside her mom through JLFW. From projects to events, they get to give back to the community together while creating lasting memories.

Moments like these reflect what volunteering is all about—connection, service, and making an impact side by side.

To all of our volunteers (families, friends, and individuals alike), thank you for the time, energy, and heart you give to Fort Wayne ❤️

🤝 National Volunteer Week: Celebrating The Junior League of Fort Wayne

As we continue our National Volunteer Week spotlight series, today we’re celebrating The Junior League of Fort Wayne — the women, the mission, and the community impact that define who we are.
For 125 years, The Junior League Movement has empowered women to lead with purpose, compassion, and courage. Here in Fort Wayne, our Members carry that legacy forward through hands‑on service, meaningful partnerships, and a commitment to supporting women and children in our community.

Over the past three years, JLFW has:
- Fed more than 500 local students through our spring break bag initiative
- Volunteered across the community with partners serving families, youth, and neighborhoods
- Prepared meals for organizations supporting children and families
- Collected hundreds of pounds of food to help fight food insecurity
- Gathered formula and essential items for families in need
- And continued to respond to emerging needs with compassion and action

Every project, every hour volunteered, and every partnership reflects our belief that women working together can create lasting change.

We’re proud of the work we do — and even more proud of the women who make it possible.

❤️ Volunteer Spotlight: Melissa ❤️
This National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to highlight members who turn small moments into meaningful impact — and Melissa’s story is one we love to share.

Her favorite Junior League memory began with a simple conversation. She overheard plans to deliver spring break bags to local schools and realized she could help. After mentioning that her company had a box truck and experience supporting deliveries for other organizations, a new partnership was born.

For the past three years, Melissa and her team have helped deliver these bags to schools across our community. What started as a quick idea has grown into an ongoing effort that ensures children facing food insecurity have meals they can count on when school isn’t in session.

Melissa joined the Junior League of Fort Wayne to give back and support a meaningful cause — especially one that helps children. What she didn’t expect was how eye‑opening the experience would be. Through her involvement, she’s gained a deeper understanding of the challenges many kids face and has been inspired to stay engaged and continue making a difference.

❤️ Fun Facts ❤️
- A huge football fan who loves the energy of a live game
- Passionate about traveling and exploring new places
- Most of all, she loves spending time with her family
We’re grateful for Melissa’s initiative, leadership, and heart. Her commitment embodies what it means to be a Junior League volunteer.

🤝 National Volunteer Week: Celebrating Our Volunteers

It’s National Volunteer Week in the USA and Canada! The Junior League of Fort Wayne is honored to recognize the extraordinary Members and volunteers who give their time, leadership, and passion to create lasting community impact.

Since Mary Harriman founded The Junior League Movement in 1901, volunteers have been a powerful force for progress—guiding change, uplifting communities, and shaping the future through service. As we celebrate 125 years of women leading through volunteerism, we’re proud to continue this remarkable legacy with today’s volunteers who move our Mission forward every day.
This week, we’re excited to share a special spotlight series, highlighting several JLFW Members whose stories reflect the heart of our work and the power of women coming together to make a difference.

Stay tuned tomorrow as we kick off our first spotlight!
