Dear Wallen Families,

We leaving registration for Wedge Wood bat till Upcoming Friday the 12th to hopefully fill a head coach and 4-5 more players

Email [email protected] if have a team to bring or those interested in head coaching a team

Wallen has always taken pride in offering opportunities that help our athletes grow, compete, and stay connected to the game they love. The Eric Wedge Wood Bat League, open to players ages 15 through turning 22, is one of those special programs. Running from June 10 through July 23, it represents one of Wallen’s strongest traditions—developing players the right way, the Wallen way.

Why Wood Bat? Why Wallen?
The wood‑bat philosophy is simple:
Wood bats demand true mechanics, clean contact, and disciplined swings. They reward real skill—not technology. That’s why college programs, scouts, and competitive summer leagues value wood‑bat experience so highly.

At Wallen, this approach has helped shape players who are fundamentally sound, mentally sharp, and prepared for the next level—whether that’s high school varsity, travel ball, college showcases, or beyond.

A League With Purpose
Now entering our 7th season, the Eric Wedge Wood Bat League has become a cornerstone of summer baseball in our community. Players benefit from:

High‑level competition against peers preparing for advanced play

Skill development rooted in discipline, timing, and bat control

A structured summer schedule that keeps athletes sharp

A safe, supportive environment built on Wallen’s long‑standing values

A Tradition Worth Protecting
Wallen has been shaping young athletes since 1958. Generations have grown up on our fields learning the game the right way—through effort, respect, sportsmanship, and community. The Wood Bat League continues that legacy by giving older players a place to compete and grow.

We Need Your Help to Keep This Division Alive
To continue this tradition without a one‑year lapse, we urgently need:

4–5 more players to register, and

A head coach willing to lead a third team

We currently have two committed teams and a partial third roster. Without these final pieces, we cannot field the minimum three teams required to run the league.

Any 15‑year‑old in Koufax may also participate while finishing their Koufax season, and they receive a discounted rate.

Be Part of the 2026 Season
If you’re between 15 and 22, this is your chance to join one of the region’s most respected summer leagues. Whether you’re sharpening your swing, preparing for tryouts, or simply wanting to stay on the field with quality competition, this league is built for you.

You may also form your own team.

Please visit Wallen Complex to register today and help us keep this division strong for another season.

Parents,

We’re excited for Wallen Night at the Tincaps, and this year we are handling tickets a little differently. We need your help to make sure every family receives the information and that each team can report accurate totals.

TICKET DETAILS

Tickets are $14.00 each and can be purchased through our dedicated link.

Deadline to purchase: June 2nd.

Each registered Wallen player receives one free ticket, but at least one paid ticket must be purchased to claim the free player ticket.

PLAYER INCENTIVES

The top‑selling team or player will walk onto the field with the Tincaps players.

Three players will be selected to throw the first pitch.

WHY THIS FUNDRAISER MATTERS
Wallen has partnered with the Fort Wayne Tincaps for over 16 years. We receive a discounted ticket rate and, in return, sell tickets to this specific game.
All proceeds directly support Wallen Baseball & Softball programs through Wallen Baseball and Softball Charities.
These funds help us continue improving fields, equipment, and the overall experience for our players.

WHAT WE NEED FROM PARENTS
Coaches are required to collect ticket counts from each family and report them to their division’s volunteer coordinator.
Please plan to attend and respond promptly when your coach reaches out.
Your communication helps us lock in accurate team totals and ensures every player receives their free ticket.

Coaches are receiving instructions from our volunteer coordinators as this message goes out. Please help them by replying quickly and encouraging participation.

Let’s make this our biggest Tincaps turnout yet and continue building the resources our league needs to grow.

The full Tincaps Game details are attached. This message will also be sent through our bulk email system in case anyone misses it. Feel free to forward it to your team or family members.

Thank you for supporting Wallen and helping make this event a success.

Parents,

As we move through the spring season, the Executive Board wants to provide full clarity on how weather decisions are made at Wallen Complex. Our goal is simple: protect every player, coach, umpire, and family while maintaining fairness and consistency across all divisions.

As volunteers, we all give our time because we care deeply about this community. That responsibility is something we take seriously, and we want you to understand the framework behind every weather-related call we make.

WALLEN COMPLEX WEATHER & LIGHTNING SAFETY OVERVIEW The safety of everyone at Wallen Complex is our highest priority. All weather is evaluated by the Executive Board, which includes representatives from Baseball, Softball, and TLobb. Board members on duty follow NFHS Lightning Safety Procedures and long-standing WTBL protocols for rain, cold, heat, and field conditions.

Our guidelines include:

Monitoring weather throughout the week and day

Determining when play should be stopped

Determining when play may resume

Determining when cancellation is necessary

Identifying who monitors weather and who makes the decision

We always aim to make timely, consistent decisions that benefit all involved.

Coaches/Website/Social Media is updated at 3:30pm for Weekdays----We will only broad cast early if we know if it is not just going happen----If no email to coaches and no reply from them EXPECT TO PLAY-

PRE-EVENT PROCEDURES Before activities begin, the action plan is communicated to board members, grounds crew leadership, umpire leadership, commissioners, and coaches. When needed, updates are shared through Facebook, the website, email, Twitter, and Rainout text services.

EVENT PROCEDURES During activities, THE BOARD MEMBER ON DUTY evaluates conditions and communicates decisions to umpires. Umpires then relay information to coaches, who communicate with players and parents.

Lightning remains the most dangerous and frequently encountered weather hazard for physically active people. We follow the NFHS 30-minute rule without exception.
