Honoring the Legacy of Alfred “Al” Louis Figel

The Fort Wayne PAL family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who donated in memory of Alfred “Al” Louis Figel.

Al dedicated his life to serving others—as a police officer, athlete, coach, husband, father, and friend. His commitment to his community and the positive impact he made on countless lives continue to inspire us today.

Because of your generosity, three PAL football teams will receive brand-new jerseys this season. These young athletes will proudly take the field wearing uniforms made possible through donations given in Al’s memory, ensuring that his legacy of service, leadership, and dedication to youth continues for years to come.

Thank you to Al’s family, friends, former teammates, classmates, and everyone who contributed. Your support is more than a donation—it is an investment in the next generation and a lasting tribute to a man who gave so much to his community.

Al’s legacy will live on every time these teams take the field.

PAL Head Football Commissioner

Seasonal Position – Spring & Fall

Police Athletic League is looking for a motivated, organized, and passionate leader to serve as our Head Football Commissioner. This position plays a major role in helping grow youth football while creating a positive and structured environment for players, coaches, officials, and families.

Position Overview

The Head Football Commissioner will oversee PAL football operations during both the Spring and Fall seasons. This individual must have strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills while maintaining a focus on youth development and community involvement.

Job Duties Include:

* Updating football rules and ensuring coaches, officials, and commissioners understand and follow them
* Scheduling games and helping create balanced and competitive teams
* Assisting with finding game and practice locations
* Organizing and leading coaches meetings
* Planning equipment handout and equipment return days
* Managing football-related issues including:
* Coaching concerns
* Rules disputes
* Parent/player concerns
* Coordinating crossover games with other leagues and organizations
* Helping maintain and organize football equipment
* Attending Saturday games throughout the season

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone who:

* Has strong communication and leadership skills
* Can manage disputes professionally and fairly
* Has good time management and organizational abilities
* Works well managing and coordinating others
* Has a strong background and knowledge of football
* Is willing to learn and use the SportEngine website and registration system
* Cares deeply about youth sports and the community
* Can pass a background check

Position Details:

* Seasonal Position: Spring & Fall
* Flexible Hours
* Games held on Saturdays
* Must be available to attend games each season
