Join us Saturday, September 12 for our Family Fun Run & 5K!

Family Fun Run: 9:30 AM — a fun, one-mile trek around the high school track! All ages, strollers & wheelchairs are welcome!

5K: 10:30 AM — compete for age/gender awards and even see yourself on the jumbotron as you make your way around the track!

Registration: $35 through September 1 (includes a FREE shirt!)

After September 1: $45

Registration closes September 11.

Every registration helps support Boomerang Backpacks and our mission to provide weekend nourishment to local students. Come run, walk, or roll, and have some fun with us! We’d love to see you there!

Partnering with the Carroll High School Alumni Association for the inaugural “The Charge: Against Hunger,” the event includes a 5K and a family fun run on Carroll’s campus to raise funds for Boomerang Backpacks food assistance.

Boomerang Backpacks is incredibly grateful to Dow - Kendallville and the Dow Company Foundation for their generous support of Boomerang Backpacks – Noble County!

This incredible gift will provide an entire school year of weekend nourishment for approximately 90 elementary students during the 2026–2027 school year. That means 90 children will have access to food on weekends when school meals are unavailable, helping them return to the classroom on Monday ready to learn and succeed.

Thank you for standing with us in the fight against childhood food insecurity. Children in our community need us now more than ever, and because of partners like Dow, we can continue ensuring that no child has to face the weekend hungry.

Thank you Community Foundation of Whitley County 💙💚

We are excited to share that we were recently able to support Boomerang Backpacks’ mission through a $5,000 grant. This grant is intended to assist the organization's efforts to continue and expand their food programs for Whitley County Elementary schools.

Boomerang Backpacks is a non-profit organization based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, that focuses on battling childhood food insecurity. The organization currently serves over 4,000 elementary students across 45 schools, including students from Whitley County elementary schools. Interested in learning more about Boomerang Backpacks? Thanks to the generosity of our community, our 2026 Boomerang Bash raised over $35,000 for Boomerang Backpacks–Steuben County! That funding will help provide weekend nourishment for more than 425 students during the 2026–2027 school year (covering approximately 75% of our annual program budget in Steuben County).
We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and supporters who make this mission possible. Together, we are making a lasting difference for local children and families.

Our Westview students (Lakeland & Westview) came together on two different days to pack 122 special Spring Break Boomerang Backpack bags! Each one filled with extra food to help provide nourishment over the extended break.
These bags included a variety of easy-to-prepare items like breakfast kits, cereal, pasta meals, snacks, drinks, and a few treats.
We’re so proud of these students for stepping up to serve others in their community. Their time, energy, and care make a real difference for local kids and families.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support this program, you’re part of every bag packed and every child served.
