New Mercies Ministries

New Mercies Ministries New Mercies Ministries mobilizes the Church through child hosting to walk alongside vulnerable families. Because families belong together!

We equip volunteers to build relationships, provide coaching, and share the hope of Christ in every season. WE EXIST TO:

Mobilize the church to serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of isolated families

Build relationships with families in need and provide community referrals

Today we're celebrating what God is doing through His Church! 🤍

This spring, 11 people said “yes” to becoming Family Tree givers, helping provide nearly $700 each month in new recurring support and exceeding our goal of 10 new givers. Their faithful generosity will support 8 nights of hosting every month for children in host homes, while other volunteers support their parents!

What encourages us most is the reminder that God continues to stir His Church to walk alongside vulnerable families. Monthly giving creates stability so that when a parent reaches out for help, we can focus on serving them well instead of wondering if resources will be there.

Every recurring gift helps create space for children to be cared for, parents to breathe, and relationships to grow. We are deeply grateful for every financial partner, volunteer, and prayer warrior who is part of this mission of family preservation.

Thank you for helping reflect the heart of Jesus to families in our community. We are delighted to see how God continues to provide through His people. ✨

And if you haven't said yes to supporting families yet, there's still room for you in our Family Tree! Click the link below to learn more.

Save the date for our New Mercies Family Fun Night on July 17th from 6-8 PM! ☀️🎉

This is not just another event on your summer calendar, if you volunteer with us. It's a chance to finally meet the people behind the phone calls, emails, and late-night texts. The staff members cheering you on. The other volunteers serving vulnerable families across Fort Wayne right now. And yes, bring your kids!

We're planning a fun summer evening with activities for the whole family, good food, and space to simply enjoy being together. Whether you are already serving or just curious about what New Mercies does, this night is for you.

If you have ever wondered what you could actually do to help families, where you would fit, or what this ministry is really like, this is your chance to come talk with us in person. Meet Host Families, Family Coaches, Support Volunteers, and staff, hear their stories, and ask questions. Build connections with others who care deeply about families in our community.

Serving vulnerable families was never meant to happen alone. We cannot wait to spend the evening together.

More details coming soon!🤩

Our monthly staff meetings are always a fun time! Since the team works remotely, it's a great chance to talk in person about tasks and projects, and just to hear how everyone is doing. So thankful to have this group working to serve families in our community!😍

A big thank you to the Fort Wayne Zoo for donating tickets for New Mercies volunteers and hosted families again this summer!

For some of the children we serve, a trip to the zoo may be a brand new experience. And an opportunity to make memories they will carry with them long after the visit ends. In a time that can feel stressful and uncertain for a child, an afternoon of carefree joy and just being a kid matters.

We are so grateful for community partners who help create opportunities for children and families to laugh and just enjoy being together. Thank you!🤩

May was full of meaningful moments connecting with the Body of Christ. We especially loved getting to share about the ministry and how God is working in the lives of vulnerable families with both Alliance Community Church and Shore Church.

It's always such an encouragement to share about what God is doing and invite others into the mission of supporting families. Thank you to both church communities for welcoming us so warmly, engaging with the mission, and considering how the Lord may be calling you to serve.

We love seeing The Church come together to care for families in crisis!🤍

What if the reason a family finds hope is because you chose to answer the phone?🤍

Serving as a Support Line Volunteer is more than just answering a phone call. You have the opportunity to encourage a parent in a low moment. To be a calm voice in a stressful time. To pray with someone who hasn't talked to God in years.

Swipe through to hear the myths vs. facts about this role and see if this could be where God is calling you to serve...

The morning David first shared about New Mercies at his church, a fellow church member felt led to give New Mercies a stack of AutoZone gift cards he had been carrying with no specific plan, just a belief in God’s ability to use them.

Soon after, two single moms being served by New Mercies needed unexpected car repairs.

One mom had just fled an unsafe domestic violence situation with her children. Another was able to have their Family Coach use the cards to purchase needed car parts. Her car is now safe and running better, and even more importantly, that act of care opened the door to a deeper relationship and Gospel conversations.

We don't usually help with car repairs, which makes this feel all the more like God’s hand at work. Thank you to the giver who listened to that nudge. Your generosity became a tangible reminder that God sees every detail. ✨

Over the past few months, our Executive Director, Doolittle, has had the opportunity to join conversations on WBCL and Bott Radio to share about the heart behind New Mercies, the needs facing vulnerable families, and the ways God is moving through this ministry.

If you haven't had a chance to listen yet, now is a great time! Whether you are driving, folding laundry, or taking a walk, we would love for you to tune in and hear from Bonnie about the mission of New Mercies.

Some seasons are heavier than we expect. The hard goes on and on. We feel like we've been in the fire forever. And we wonder where God is.

But we do not walk those places alone.🤍

God’s presence does not always remove the trial, but it does sustain us through it. Whatever you are carrying today, take heart: you are held, seen, and never abandoned.
