🌼🧡 Día de los Mu***os: Remembering Those Who Came Before Us 🧡🌼

Did you know that Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) is a beautiful Mexican tradition celebrated November 1–2 that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away?

It’s a wonderful reminder that our ancestors are more than names on a family tree. They are people with stories, dreams, struggles, and legacies that live on through us. ❤️

🌳 Try a Family History Activity Together!

This week, take time as a family to:
🌼 Find a photograph of an ancestor or loved one who has passed away.
📖 Share a favorite memory or story about their life.
🍲 Prepare a favorite family recipe that has been passed down.
🕯️ Create a special display with family photographs and keepsakes.
🌳 Add a story or photograph to your family tree on FamilySearch.

As we remember those who came before us, we strengthen the connections between generations.

💛 “The hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers.” — Malachi 4:6

Who is someone in your family you want future generations to remember?

❤️ Family History: A Personal Testimony of Love, Gratitude, and Eternal Families ❤️

Today, we are sharing a beautiful personal testimony from a member of our congregation, James Davis, about the blessings of family history and temple service.

In Brother Davis’ own words:

“I often think of the many things my parents have done for me throughout my life. I received from them enlightening and transformative personal growth, nurturing and empowering encouragement, and invaluable and grounding support. Their guidance gave me the stability and clarity on which to build a strong foundation.

They have since passed away, and I wonder if I ever fully expressed to them my gratitude for the efforts and sacrifices they made. I know that family was very important to them. They made certain we were involved with both sides of the family by spending special occasions together. I also know that there is nothing greater than to be with family through the eternities.

There is something that I can do for them now. I can seek out my ancestors and provide for them the saving ordinances performed in the temple and have the family sealed together for all eternity. There are few greater blessings than to be able to enjoy a celestial life together and to progress as a family.

I’ve had the opportunity to provide this blessing for my parents and others in my family line. One opportunity involved a young woman in our ward who was preparing to go on her first youth temple trip. I asked Livia if she would be willing to be baptized and confirmed for my mother. She was excited to be able to do that. This is a picture of her at the Indianapolis Temple holding my mother’s family ordinance card. The smile on her face and the gratitude and joy I felt in my heart for her service to my family is a testimony of the blessings that come through family history and temple service.”

❤️ Thank you, Brother Davis, for sharing this heartfelt testimony and reminding us that the blessings of family history reach beyond this life.
