It's getting colder and animals are preparing for hibernation. Did you know that hibernation involves an animal reducing its metabolism, heart rate, and body temperature?

The northern leopard frog hibernates at the bottom of ponds, lakes, or deeper streams during the winter and will remain at the bottom of the water until the ambient air temperature is 50 degrees F or higher.

We had a great time at our spooktacular October Social Paddle! We had an octopus, crab, sharks, and even a cow join us on the water! Congratulations to our costume contest winner! You put a lot of effort into your costume.

A huge thank you to Trading Post Outfitters for hosting us! It was a beautiful fall day and leaves were starting to change 🍂

We are officially done with social paddles for the 2026 season! We can't wait to get back on the water with you next spring!

📣 Storm drains have a huge impact on our water trails! Check out the reminder from Allen County Partnership for Water Quality ⬇

Remember, storm drains are not trash cans! Storm drains flow directly to our rivers. That means that anything that enters the storm drain ends up in our waterways. Keep storm drains clean to help keep our rivers clean!

Thank you to all who joined our September Paddle Social on The Wabash! The paddle was from Vera Cruz to Kehoe Park by Main Street bridge in Bluffton. There were 18 people in total. The only portaging was around the log jam shortly before passing the eastern boundary of Ouabache State Park, maybe less than 2 miles from the launch. Even though it rained, it was nice to unplug for a while and get into nature.
