Interfaith Charities of South Lee

Interfaith Charities of South Lee Interfaith Charities of South Lee is a 501 c 3 non profit organization. ICSL is a food pantry and community outreach program.

ICSL is a community service organization and United Way Partner agency serving the residents of South Ft Myers, Estero, and San Carlos Park. The mission is to provide help and hope to those in need in our community. This is done through the food pantry and community programs such as, financial assistance, free income tax preparation, summer lunch and much more. Since its founding in 1991, ICSL has

grown at a significant rate to meet the increasing needs of the community. ICSL receives grants from United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades counties to assist in the payment of client utility bills, rents and mortgages. Other programs include connecting clients with available services such as VITA a free income tax return preparation service and Meals on Wheels delivers meals to those in need. We continue to add programs as we are able in order to provide essential services that would otherwise go unmet. As the Estero/San Carlos Park United Way House, other UW partners are able to utilize our property to its fullest. Each week is busy with activities including teaching English as a second language and Money Management class by the Homeownership Resource Center, to teach budgeting, setting financial goals and becoming fiscally responsible. All of our programs are only possible through the availability of the facility purchased in the fall of 2008. We are thankful for the faithfulness of our supporters, staff, volunteers, and board of directors who demonstrate their compassion in many areas of service. Without them we would not be able to meet the needs of our neighbors in our community. 98% of our cash and in-kind donations received is used directly for program activities. ICSLโ€™s continued success is directly dependent on our volunteers. Opportunities exist in our office and pantry for sorting baked goods, stocking shelves, and assisting clients that come for help. Volunteer drivers are needed for food pick up at stores, to deliver bread or hot meals. ICSL is also an approved service learning site for FGCU students and other youth that need to complete volunteer service hours. In 2015 362 volunteers recorded 18,884 hours of service. ICSL has 2 full time and 4 part time employees. ICSL is where real needs are met by real people, that is people like you and me caring about our neighbors. We continue to be a lifeline for more men, women and children every week. We continue to need your support through your time, energy and finances to enable us to purchase food, fund programs and operational costs, purchase capital equipment and pay down the mortgage.

What an amazing first week of Summer Lunch!

A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us this week and to our incredible volunteers for helping make everything run so smoothly.

We were so happy to see many of our children from last summer return, and we loved welcoming new faces to the program as well! Seeing our kids grow year after year is one of the greatest joys of Summer Lunch.

Today, we would also like to give a special thank you to -fil-A for providing delicious meals for our children. They were a big hit!

The fun has officially begun, and we can't wait to see everyone again next week for more meals, activities, smiles, and memories.

Thank you for being part of our Summer Lunch family!

This week we are shining the light on

Brendon assists at the Food Pantry during the time when he is not in school. He comes to volunteer like itโ€™s his part-time summer job. He comes in 2-3 times a week. Even 4 days a week sometimes.

Something to shine on is the fact every time he steps into the door, all you see is that big smile of his. Something we appreciate about Brendon is his work ethic. Heโ€™s respectful. Heโ€™s a fast learner. He takes instruction very well. He does everything with so much care. If something heavy needs to be lifted, he is there. If something needs to be sorted, he is there. If we need help to bring boxes of food to take out to clients, he is there.

Every time he comes, you can immediately tell that he is a big people person. You can hear him having mini conversations with almost every volunteer. Heโ€™ll often pick up a conversation right where it left off because he seems to be very intrigued about the topic. His positive attitude and friendly personality help create a warm and encouraging environment for both volunteers and clients alike. Brendon has a way of bringing people together, and his energy is contagious.

He started volunteering while he was in high school. Itโ€™s been a whole year since he graduated. Now he is volunteering as a fresh college student.

Brendon, thank you for your continued dedication, kindness, and willingness to serve. Your hard work never goes unnoticed, and we are grateful for the time, effort, and heart you pour into our Food Pantry.

Pets are family too and need your help to keep them safe and prepared during disasters.

Your pet depends on you, especially during a storm!

As we're in hurricane season, having an emergency kit ready for your furry family members is just as important as preparing one for yourself. Pack essentials like food, water, medications, a leash, comfort items, and copies of vet records so you can move quickly and safely if needed.

Planning ahead means less stress for the ones who rely on you most ๐Ÿพ

Hurricane season is here, and being prepared can make all the difference. If you would like more information about how to prepare yourself and your family, visit the American Red Cross website and download their mobile app for helpful resources, emergency alerts, and preparedness tips.
