Sources now claim Green Beret and former UFC fighter Tim Kennedy was working for a company linked to Erik Prince in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and was shot three times in the leg. Those same sources say the team was in a firefight with Wagner, now rebranded as Russia's Africa Corps.

None of this has been confirmed. The Wagner claim in particular is hard to square with the public record, since Russian contractors are generally reported on the same side as the Congolese government, not against it. Prince's companies have been confirmed active in the DRC since late 2024, including on the front line at Uvira this year.
