🎾 White Mountains USTA Flex League: A Successful Inaugural Season!
The White Mountains USTA Flex League wrapped up its inaugural summer season with plenty of tennis, new connections, and excitement for the future!
Led by local volunteer Jill Rich, with support from Jodi Peruch and USTA Southwest, the league brought together players from Pinetop Country Club, Torreon, Pinetop Lakes Country Club, White Mountain Country Club, and area HOA courts. From a starting point of zero, the league grew to more than 40 players competing in Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
The season kicked off May 26 at Pinetop Country Club with nearly 30 players enjoying clinics, Flex League demonstrations, and an introduction to Red Ball programming.
To celebrate the season, more than 20 players gathered at Pinetop Country Club for an End-of-Season Social & Drills Event. Players enjoyed three-plus hours of tennis games, drills, friendly competition, prizes, refreshments, and plenty of time to connect with fellow tennis enthusiasts.
The season also provided valuable feedback for 2027. Players would like clearer match windows, a longer playing season, and more opportunities for cross-club socials and team play. Next year, each participating club will have a league representative to help coordinate scheduling, participation, and social events.
Looking Ahead to 2027
Plans are already underway for an expanded summer season, with a May 2027 kickoff and potential additions including singles, Red Ball Socials, and Tri-Level team play.
Special thanks to Jill Rich, Jodi Peruch, Rob Richardson, Michelle Colbert, Pinetop Country Club, USTA Southwest staff, and everyone who made the inaugural season a success!
