Our three endorsed candidates for the Flagstaff City Council, Austin Aslan, Patty Hansen, and Khara House, took the top three places in a seven-way primary and are advancing to the general election. Our endorsements go to serious, human-rights-forward, across-the-board progressive candidates who understand the value of collective power and know that together we can make Flagstaff kinder, more just, and more equitable.

We are excited to endorse Khara House, Austin Aslan, and Patty Hansen for the Flagstaff City Council (AZ). Austin, Khara, and Patty are value-aligned candidates who we believe are most likely to lead with courage, intention, and ambition that the Flagstaff City Council desperately needs. Their policy positions align with ours: human-rights forward, across-the-board progressive. Their experiences in elected office have provided valuable lessons to guide them. Early voting begins, and ballots are mailed today, June 24.

Arizona is spending $60 MILLION on border operations — during a budget shortfall. 🚨
The federal government is already funding raids, detention & deportation. Arizona doesn’t need to duplicate it with state dollars.

But it’s not just about immigration. Arizona is building a surveillance state — collecting biometric data, expanding agency information sharing, and integrating directly with ICE field operations. Cochise County is already deploying this technology. Regardless of your politics, that should concern everyone.

Meanwhile, working families go without:
🏠 Emergency rental assistance — underfunded
🏥 Rural healthcare — stretched thin
👶 Childcare — out of reach

74% of people in ICE detention have no criminal convictions.
18 people have died in ICE custody in just the first 4 months of 2026.
67% of Arizona Latino voters disapprove. 73% oppose more ICE funding without conditions.

Governor Hobbs: Zero out state border funding. Invest in Arizona families.

The Things People Say!
Monday, June 15, 2026 in FLAGSTAFF, AZ
5:30 - 7:00 PM (Snacks provided!)

Exact location provided upon registration. Register using the link in the comments.

What are some of the erroneous — and harmful — things that people say about the Snowbowl and the Sacred Peaks? Why do they say these things? We’ll explore some common narratives and, more importantly, we’ll have some fun learning how to disrupt those narratives when you hear them — and get people thinking in a more accurate and positive direction. This event is tailored for non-Native folks who want to step into solidarity with Indigenous leaders who are defending the sanctity of the Peaks. Come hang out with other cool people committed to anti-racist work. Registration required - location will be provided upon registration. Link in the comments.

🔥 Catch Fire is proud to endorse our advisory board member, Maebe Pudlo!

Maebe is a trans non-binary activist, community leader, and advocate in Los Angeles, California, running for California State Senate District 26. They are currently serving as Treasurer and At-Large Representative for the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council in Los Angeles. Upon their election in 2019, they became the first drag queen elected to public office in the United States. In 2022, they became the first openly trans-nonbinary person to advance to a general election for a seat in U.S. Congress, where they earned the support of more than 60,000 voters.

On the SLNC Committee level, Maebe serves as Co-Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee, Co-Chair of the Reimagining Public Safety Committee, and Co-Chair of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Housing and Homelessness for the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. Professionally, Maebe works as the Program Manager for SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition. Maebe’s State Senate platform focuses on human rights and economic equity/relief measures, including Universal Healthcare, Housing for All, and Free State College for all Californians, regardless of immigration status.

Thrilled to endorse Rae Huang for Mayor of Los Angeles. Rae is a lifelong organizer for housing, racial justice, and real community safety—not criminalization. As Deputy Director of Housing Now, she’s helped lead the fight for social housing and the People’s Budget LA, giving tens of thousands of residents a voice in how LA spends its money. As mayor, Rae will expand social housing, build a public bank, invest in unarmed crisis response and youth programs, make buses fast and free, and bring participatory budgeting to City Hall. This is the people-powered, progressive leadership LA deserves—and we’re all in.

🔥 CATCH FIRE ENDORSEMENT 🔥
Kai Newkirk is exactly the kind of courageous organizer we need in Congress representing AZ‑04.

As a lifelong community organizer, the son of a carpenter and a childcare worker, Kai has spent decades leading nonviolent fights for economic, racial, immigrant, and climate justice—from West Virginia to Los Angeles, DC, and now right here in Arizona. He moved to AZ in 2018 and has been in the trenches ever since, organizing against ICE abuses that directly impact his loved ones and helping lead the fight to stop Trump’s authoritarian power grabs.

Kai is challenging a corporate-backed Democratic incumbent who voted for the Laken Riley Act and refused to take meaningful action to stop the U.S.-backed atrocities in Gaza—votes that green‑light Trump’s mass‑deportation agenda and side with war and AIPAC over our communities. Kai has been fighting for Palestinian freedom since college, refuses AIPAC and all dark money, and is helping build a multiracial, multi‑faith coalition—including Palestinian, Arab, Muslim, and Jewish voters—behind a clear moral demand: stop genocide and put people before corporate power.

In Congress, Kai will fight for Medicare for All, universal childcare, housing as a human right, a living wage, and a democracy that can’t be bought. His campaign is on the ballot after collecting 2,250 signatures in just 13 days and is powered by a growing volunteer army across AZ‑04—from ASU students to disillusioned Democrats who are ready for a real alternative.

We’re proud to endorse Kai Newkirk for Congress in AZ‑04. If you’re ready to flip the tables on a corrupt status quo and send a movement organizer to Congress, now is the time to get in this fight with Kai.

We’re proud to endorse Nurse Lee 4 AZ in Arizona’s Fifth District.

Elizabeth Lee is a Board Certified Reproductive Health + Infertility Nurse and Board Certified Patient Advocate who’s spent more than a decade fighting for patients inside a healthcare system that too often fails the people it’s meant to serve.

A first-generation college graduate and the daughter of a union family, Elizabeth knows what it means to fight for every inch. She’s guided thousands of families through infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, complex diagnoses, and insurance denials — seeing firsthand how broken our system truly is.

When her mother’s cancer treatment was denied by insurance, Elizabeth lost not just her mom but any illusion that the system would ever fix itself. That loss lit a fire that has never gone out.

She’s running for Congress because Washington doesn’t need another talking head — it needs someone with the courage and experience to rebuild what’s broken.

Elizabeth’s campaign is powered by patients, working families, and everyone tired of being told to wait their turn.

We’re with her.
