🔥 Catch Fire is proud to endorse our advisory board member, Maebe Pudlo!

Maebe is a trans non-binary activist, community leader, and advocate in Los Angeles, California, running for California State Senate District 26. They are currently serving as Treasurer and At-Large Representative for the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council in Los Angeles. Upon their election in 2019, they became the first drag queen elected to public office in the United States. In 2022, they became the first openly trans-nonbinary person to advance to a general election for a seat in U.S. Congress, where they earned the support of more than 60,000 voters.

On the SLNC Committee level, Maebe serves as Co-Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee, Co-Chair of the Reimagining Public Safety Committee, and Co-Chair of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Housing and Homelessness for the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. Professionally, Maebe works as the Program Manager for SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition. Maebe’s State Senate platform focuses on human rights and economic equity/relief measures, including Universal Healthcare, Housing for All, and Free State College for all Californians, regardless of immigration status.

Thrilled to endorse Rae Huang for Mayor of Los Angeles. Rae is a lifelong organizer for housing, racial justice, and real community safety—not criminalization. As Deputy Director of Housing Now, she’s helped lead the fight for social housing and the People’s Budget LA, giving tens of thousands of residents a voice in how LA spends its money. As mayor, Rae will expand social housing, build a public bank, invest in unarmed crisis response and youth programs, make buses fast and free, and bring participatory budgeting to City Hall. This is the people-powered, progressive leadership LA deserves—and we’re all in.

🔥 CATCH FIRE ENDORSEMENT 🔥
Kai Newkirk is exactly the kind of courageous organizer we need in Congress representing AZ‑04.

As a lifelong community organizer, the son of a carpenter and a childcare worker, Kai has spent decades leading nonviolent fights for economic, racial, immigrant, and climate justice—from West Virginia to Los Angeles, DC, and now right here in Arizona. He moved to AZ in 2018 and has been in the trenches ever since, organizing against ICE abuses that directly impact his loved ones and helping lead the fight to stop Trump’s authoritarian power grabs.

Kai is challenging a corporate-backed Democratic incumbent who voted for the Laken Riley Act and refused to take meaningful action to stop the U.S.-backed atrocities in Gaza—votes that green‑light Trump’s mass‑deportation agenda and side with war and AIPAC over our communities. Kai has been fighting for Palestinian freedom since college, refuses AIPAC and all dark money, and is helping build a multiracial, multi‑faith coalition—including Palestinian, Arab, Muslim, and Jewish voters—behind a clear moral demand: stop genocide and put people before corporate power.

In Congress, Kai will fight for Medicare for All, universal childcare, housing as a human right, a living wage, and a democracy that can’t be bought. His campaign is on the ballot after collecting 2,250 signatures in just 13 days and is powered by a growing volunteer army across AZ‑04—from ASU students to disillusioned Democrats who are ready for a real alternative.

We’re proud to endorse Kai Newkirk for Congress in AZ‑04. If you’re ready to flip the tables on a corrupt status quo and send a movement organizer to Congress, now is the time to get in this fight with Kai.

We’re proud to endorse Nurse Lee 4 AZ in Arizona’s Fifth District.

Elizabeth Lee is a Board Certified Reproductive Health + Infertility Nurse and Board Certified Patient Advocate who’s spent more than a decade fighting for patients inside a healthcare system that too often fails the people it’s meant to serve.

A first-generation college graduate and the daughter of a union family, Elizabeth knows what it means to fight for every inch. She’s guided thousands of families through infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, complex diagnoses, and insurance denials — seeing firsthand how broken our system truly is.

When her mother’s cancer treatment was denied by insurance, Elizabeth lost not just her mom but any illusion that the system would ever fix itself. That loss lit a fire that has never gone out.

She’s running for Congress because Washington doesn’t need another talking head — it needs someone with the courage and experience to rebuild what’s broken.

Elizabeth’s campaign is powered by patients, working families, and everyone tired of being told to wait their turn.

We’re with her.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Keep Flagstaff Together Opposes ICE Expansion in Northern Arizona After Police Alert

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – March 27, 2026 – Keep Flagstaff Together, a project of Catch Fire Movement, urges property owners not to lease or sell space to ICE amid reports of the agency seeking a permanent presence in Flagstaff and Coconino County.
Yesterday, Flagstaff Police confirmed they learned of "ICE looking at space to station agents within the City of Flagstaff." Keep Flagstaff Together also has credible information on ICE inquiries with Coconino County facilities this year.

A permanent ICE office would further enable racial profiling, expand surveillance, and traumatize immigrant communities in Northern Arizona, where the group works to advance rights and protections. The organization calls on public and private property owners to reject any deals enabling enforcement operations that terrorize the community.

Maria Castillo-Rincon, leader of Keep Flagstaff Together, said: "We urge property owners to resist selling out their humanity for a few bucks. We all deserve to live with dignity and without fear."
Eva Putzova, co-founder and co-Executive Director of Catch Fire Movement, added: "Flagstaff residents: Share tips on ICE negotiations at [email protected]. An ICE presence would harm nearby properties and businesses. Tenants and owners need to know the impacts."

Catch Fire Movement advances a human-rights-centered vision of migration, upholding freedom of movement, the right to stay, and dignity for all, regardless of birthplace, race, class, or status. It rejects dividing immigrants into "good" or "bad" and opposes dehumanizing policies.

Recreational Collonialism with Kyle Boggs

Join us for a conversation with Kyle Boggs, the author of Recreational Colonialism and the Rhetorical Landscapes of the Outdoors. (The book cover photo and the featured wheat paste mural is by Chip Thomas.) As a journalist, Kyle covered the development of Arizona Snowbowl on the San Francisco Peaks, but in his book, he fuses journalism and personal narrative with scholarly research. In illuminating the striking ways that settler imaginaries are accommodated, performed, and sustained in the everyday, Kyle offers a powerful reminder that even during leisure activities, complex webs of power control who can access resources and land and who has the right to protect histories and cultures.

The event is co-hosted by Catch Fire Movement and Sierra Club, the Grand Canyon Chapter. Seating is limited. RSVP at catchfiremovement.org/events or go to our Events link in the bio.

🔥 Catch Fire Movement is proud to once again endorse Junaid Ahmed for Congress!

We first endorsed Junaid for Congress in 2022 because he embodied what real, people-powered leadership looks like—grounded in community, driven by justice, and unafraid to challenge the establishment. In 2026, that’s truer than ever.

Junaid is a longtime community organizer, immigrant, and tech entrepreneur who turned his success into service. From helping found Chi-Care, which delivered more than 1 million meals to unhoused neighbors, to advocating for policies that put working families— not corporate donors—first, Junaid’s record proves he doesn’t just talk about change. He organizes for it.

The son of immigrants who worked his way from community college to an MBA from the University of Chicago, Junaid understands firsthand the challenges working families face and the promise of opportunity when barriers are torn down. His vision for our future is clear: Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, affordable housing, strong unions, and digital innovation that serves people—not profit.

We’re proud to stand with Junaid Ahmed again because movements aren’t built by the powerful—they’re built by us. Let’s send a true progressive leader to Washington. 💪🔥

🔥 Catch Fire proudly endorses Anabel Mendoza for Congress (IL-07)!

Anabel Mendoza is a lifelong Chicagoan, immigrant rights organizer, and progressive Democrat running a people-powered campaign rooted in dignity, justice, and accountability.

From organizing to block over $15 billion in funding to ICE and CBP to defending DACA and exposing abuses in federal detention centers, Anabel has spent her life fighting for people too often shut out of power. Her track record proves it: she doesn’t back down when lives and liberties are on the line.

Trained as an investigative journalist and grounded in her West Lawn community, Anabel brings truth-telling, courage, and deep solidarity to everything she does. She’s not taking a dime from AIPAC, corporate PACs, or special interests — because she’s accountable to the people, not the powerful.

IL-07 deserves a representative whose values match the community’s. We’re fired up to back Anabel Mendoza For Congress, a leader who will fight for immigrant justice, good union jobs, affordable housing, and a government that actually works for working people.

Let’s build the movement that gets her to D.C. - follow the link to "Split the Pot" in the comments.
