The Creative Spot welcomes back Mark to the Chosen Pathways Program for his second year! He's ready to greet guests and help them decide what their creative experience will be!

His Chosen Pathway is Cyber Security at Texas A&M University this fall!! He started working with computers in middle school and has been passionate about the cyber world ever since!!

This program is in partnership with STL Youth Jobs who helps place our youth at various job locations during the summer for professional development! Talk about ✨️

Drumming 4 Peace is coming up soon!

From July 20–24 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM daily, participants will explore peace in every direction:
💛 Within themselves
🤝 Among their peers
🏘️ Throughout their community
🇺🇸 Across America
🌎 Around the world

Each day includes hands-on creativity, drumming experiences, teamwork activities, and reflection designed to help youth build confidence, emotional expression, leadership skills, and unity through rhythm.

🎨 Creative projects include:
• Making personal drums
• Superhero teamwork challenges
• Community leadership cards for the Mayor of Ferguson
• A mock “Breaking News: Peace in America” broadcast
• A collaborative world peace mural

🥁 Drumming experiences include:
• Emotional rhythm expression
• Group beat-building
• Community unity drumming
• American peace anthems
• A global drum circle with guest African drummers

This program is a journey through rhythm, culture, creativity, and connection.

Today we celebrate freedom, resilience, culture, and the ongoing journey toward justice and equality.

At The Creative Spot, we honor the creativity, brilliance, and contributions of Black communities past, present, and future. Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is a historical milestone and a call to continue building stronger, healthier, more connected communities through art, education, wellness, and collective action.

May we take time today to reflect, learn, celebrate, create, and uplift one another.

Ok creative connections and creative community! Lady J Huston led us in a lesson on genealogy during her Roots and Blues workshop! Learning where you come from and about your family history allows us to understand who we are and how we are! She ended the workshop, performing a few blues tunes and we just had a good time.

Black Music Month continues!! Next week meet us at the JuneteenthSTL: Dellwood Festival for more art, music, and creativity!!

The Creative Spot welcomes back Davion! This is his third year with our Chosen Pathways Summer Internship Program! He's helped design crafts for event participants, even freestyled on our community song and has been instrumental in our growth and development! He helps set up projects, keep the building clean and tidy, and welcoming to guests!

His Chosen Pathway is Videogame Design! He believes in creating an experience memorable to players as he is an avid videogame player himself! He's set to start his degree program at Webster University this fall!

This internship program is in partnership with STL Youth Jobs who helps job sites secure young professionals as employees! It truly takes a village to raise and pour into our young people.

We are excited to announce the return of Drumming 4 Peace at The Creative Spot!

This year, we are exploring what it truly means to create peace through rhythm and community:

Day 1: Peace within myself
Day 2: Peace amongst my people
Day 3: Peace throughout our community
Day 4: Peace across America
Day 5: Peace around the world

Through music, drumming, storytelling, and creative expression, youth will come together to learn, grow, and connect in a powerful space of healing and joy.

I wanted to take a moment to give a personal shout out to Patricia Washington for her support and leadership in the community and during SCHOOL'S OUT Youth Celebration!

When she joined the event team, she brought along a panel event that was already scheduled to take place and suggested a collaboration between the two events. Her empowering presence and leadership played a major role in the success of this two-day long event.

The Creative Spot humbly embraces collaboration over competition as it takes all of us to make the community a better place! Thank you, Ms. Pat, for sharing your dream and vision with us for a better Ferguson and beyond! This is what it means to provide creative connections, creative solutions, creative community, and creative wellness!
