All Among Us had two great things happen today.

A former board member, and dear friend, reached out to say he had 68 hot dogs and 25 burgers left over from a graduation party. He and his wife wanted to take them to a homeless camp. Can you just imagine how excited this homeless camp was to receive this quality food today!!!! Happy Memorial Day to them!

A new camp with women we have started serving sent the following text:

"Hey Cathryn, I just wanted to say from all of us how much we appreciate everything you did and brought for us without any judgement, no one has ever done this. It really seems you care a lot. You have no idea how much it meant to us. So thank you again."

THIS is our goal. Love, Care, and Dignity. It's what I want people to feel as we drive away.

When I find a camp that has been established over a month, especially with women (my soft spot), it's important to me to provide what I would need in that site.

Water, food, cooler, ice in the summer as often as possible, a camping toilet and shower, bug spray, tents, sleeping pads, cleaning supplies, body wipes, trash bags, and appropriate clothing. These are the minimum. This is what we provided this camp on Friday.

There is an elderly man at this camp who we delivered a cot with a 3 inch mattress. He gave three hugs for that cot!

This week I take one of the ladies to renew her driver's license.

Relationships are being built.

It's what we do.

Their main ask is a 10 man tent and a canopy in order to stay out of the sun. These can certainly be used.

The following is a wish list for this site:

I had the opportunity to volunteer with one of our partner non-profits, Growing with Purpose. Tony Rushing has an incredible garden right in the midst of The Ville, an area where the tornado hit the hardest. It's such a bright spot.

I reached out to one of our generous donors and volunteers a few months ago asking if he would mind just meeting Tony. Not knowing if there could be a connection.

Since that time, he has brought along truck loads of potting soil and volunteer workers.

I love how people come together from the greater good.

Note: There were snakes and bee hives. Both I try to keep my distance from. I was told to move slowly around the beehives and not to make too much noise. As young men were walking around with w**d wackers and chain saws . . . ha!

Last week I had the amazing opportunity to take 50 lunches to the homeless with my old friend (we worked together about ten years ago), Kevin Speis and his friend Matt.

Turkey and cheese sandwiches, a Tw***ie, oranges and bananas, popcorn, and water and apple juice. We also had large jars of instant coffee and two packages of body wipes for everyone. Along with two tents.

Having two men along allowed me to go where I would not have gone alone. In doing so, we found a new camp with four women. Now this is a camp we can serve each week.

I found out a Prius cannot jump the battery of a truck. Who knew?

I asked the women what they needed, and they provided a list which I have added to our Amazon Wish List (I think it's the first ten items). A camping shower was first on their list - following by a camping toilet (which I had). Followed by bug spray!

Thank you for your continued generosity!

It was such a beautiful day to take lunch and essentials to the homeless.

Carolyn does such a great job with food. Everyone gets more than enough - and bags of cookies to last a few days.

Two ham and cheese sandwiches, warm potatoes, oranges, tons of cookies, and Gatorade.

Sleeping bags, tents, shoes, clothing, bath wipes, hygiene items, clothing, and blankets.

What a bounty!

Thank you to everyone who donates and makes this possible!!

Yesterday we delivered lunches to the homeless downtown.

Lunches included turkey and cheese sandwich, roast beef and cheese sandwich, chips, cookies, bananas, an orange, gatorade, and two waters. It was a full meal deal!!!

What struck me was how hungry people were.

We offered choices of sandwiches, fruit, chips, cookies, drinks - and they were not picky. They just craved the FOOD. It was humbling.

After delivering meals, I ran through Sonic to get Cat a burger. A homeless man was near so I offered him $3. He said what he really needed was a meal, as he was just so hungry. When I handed him his meal, I asked if he would have another opportunity for food that day. He said no.

Thank you to Krescene Beck and the youth group at her church in Ferguson for making these meals! They are so faithful!!!

Today was a 'pivot' day.

Cat helped me fill my car with two dozen sleeping bags, coats of all sizes, hot hands, socks, new underwear, p*e bags, disposable body washcloths, and lots of warm clothing.

My goal was to hit a homeless camp in The Ville.

As I drove by the camp, it did not have a feeling of safety about it, so I circled around and took another look. Still no. Rarely do I feel this way.

As I was talking to a friend mine, he pointed out a tiny house he said probably had 40-50 people living in it.

No electric.

No water.

I yelled out to a woman going into the home asking if they could use some of the items I had. My friend went to the door and asked the guys to come out out.

Ten men came out and said they would welcome everything I had in my car. They were freezing.

Wish I had food and water with me. . .

Never know what a day is going to hold . . . I only know there are people out there who are cold today.

And for at least this one house, it's a bit better this afternoon.

Hope to get some food by soon.

Note: It is hard to see what homes have been helped since the tornado. There is still so much damage.

Michael was at the baby shower for his one and only daughter.

WHAT a day to celebrate!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael was an addict the entire life of his daughter - until he entered AAU five years ago.

He has relapsed twice in five years. Both times only for a very short period of time (once just for a day). He gets right back up on the horse. Relapse is sometimes part of the recovery journey. Though it does not have to be.

I think Michael is in his third year working in the BJC cafeteria. He has health insurance and a 401K~! This was his first job, other than selling drugs. They love Michael and have stuck by him during his relapses. So proud of BJC.

This brings me SUCH joy.

Thank you for your donations that have made this story possible.

Note: Michael gave me permission to share his story on social media.

I am looking to provide a Port A Potty for a location where the tornado hit.

It is where a community garden will be planted soon. It will serve several blocks - some homes with no running water.

The cheapest quote we have is $305 a month.

Does anyone have a relationship with a port a potty company who could pull some strings to have one donated?

Or provide at a reduced cost? We would give them a shout out in our next newsletter!

Thanks!
