❤️‍🩹 Patient Spotlight: 2026-0633

This juvenile Red-tailed Hawk came to Northsong Wild Bird Rehabilitation on September 28 after sustaining a severe soft tissue injury from barbed wire.

Barbed wire can pose serious risks to wildlife, and injuries like these can require extensive care and recovery time. Our team is working hard to give this young raptor the care it needs and the best chance at returning to the wild.

From a tiny baby who couldn’t be renested to a beautiful Red shouldered Hawk ready to spread their wings and return to the wild. 🤎🪶

Patient #2026-0214 came to Northsong Wild Bird Rehabilitation on May 22, 2026, after they couldn’t be returned to their nest. After months of growing, care, and preparation, it was finally time for this little raptor to take to the skies!

Every release is a reminder of why wildlife rehabilitation matters. It takes time, dedication, and resources to help these birds grow strong enough to survive on their own, and we’re so grateful to be part of their journey back to the wild.

🦉 RAPTOR SEASON IS HERE, AND OUR RAPTORS NEED YOU!

Right now, Northsong Wild Bird Rehabilitation has 15 raptors in care, and new patients are arriving every day!

Did you know it costs us approximately $40 EVERY DAY just to feed our raptors? That’s $280 a week spent on food alone, and it doesn’t include the other supplies and specialized care our patients need while they recover.

Did you know vision is incredibly important for songbirds?👁️🪶🐦‍⬛

For a wild bird, healthy vision is essential for finding food, navigating their environment, avoiding predators, and ultimately surviving in the wild.

In this video, Dr. Warman is performing an eye stain and exam on one of our patients to check the health of the eye and look for injuries that may not be visible at first glance.

At Northsong, every part of a patient’s health matters, even the tiniest details.
