Free Geek Arkansas (FGAR) accepts donations of electronics from the community at large. The donations are tested and sorted into four categories: Reuse, Refurbish, Repurpose, Recycle. Reuseable and Refurbished items are sold in the Thrift Store. Volunteers build computer towers from “Repurposed” parts. Others, diagnose and repair computers and other electronics using “Repurposed” parts. Volunteer
s also teach each other, share knowledge while working at FGAR. When customers come in with a problem, one of our volunteers will teach/show the customer how to diagnose and fix their problem, at no charge, unless they need parts. If a customer doesn’t want to learn, we charge an hourly fee for service plus parts. Last, but not least, FGAR gifts computers and service to other nonprofits and individuals who have a need and who would not otherwise have access to the technology.
