Time: 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

The ACI Greater Michigan Chapter invites you to join us for a presentation about the requirements around and options for concrete storm shelters, an evolving and critical field given the unpredictability of nature’s most savage storms.

Every year, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other extreme windstorms cause numerous injuries and deaths in the United States. While we cannot stop these storms from occurring, we can respond by understanding the hazards and carefully planning to protect ourselves from their effects.

FEMA and its partners help protect people from severe wind events through promoting safe rooms. FEMA provides guidance and best practices on safe room design and construction, participates in safe room-related standard and building code development, provides funding for safe rooms and monitors a safe room helpline to answer safe room-related technical questions.

Speaker: Zach Davidson
Zach Davidson is Regional Business Developer for BuildBlock. He has a proven track record in the ICF industry, having served in roles such as Technical Training Supervisor and Senior Technical Application Specialist at Tremco/Nudura, where he redesigned and delivered advanced ICF training programs and mentored new trainers. He also worked as ICF Sales Manager at Holdfast Technologies, managing teams and supporting regional growth, and as Territory Manager, helping contractors and DIY builders successfully adopt ICF systems. His skills include technical instruction, jobsite inspections, pre-construction planning, and building strong client relationships.

Beyond his professional achievements, Zach is passionate about giving back. He has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity’s Build with Strength initiative, contributing to over 12 full builds in states including Connecticut, Maine, Arkansas, Wyoming, Florida, Ohio, and Indiana.
