Walnut Lake Preschool and Developmental Kindergarten Through a unique educational-therapeutic model, we helped children ages 3 to 7 with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges.

WLP is now closed and no longer offering programming. Walnut Lake Preschool and Developmental Kindergarten uniquely addresses the needs of children ages 3 to 7 whose emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges hamper their success in a regular early childhood program. The school gives students and families the support and skills they need to transition into a traditional school or classroo

m setting by kindergarten or first grade. The school’s philosophy is centered on the growth and development of the individual child. A team of teachers and therapists focus on the child’s emotional and social skills, as well as language development in an atmosphere that is accepting of individual needs and differences. Each child is encouraged to learn to express and master feelings in appropriate ways, and participate in activities that are devised to enable them to feel competent and secure. These fundamental skills prepare children for school and life.

Dear Friends of Walnut Lake Preschool,

We are writing to share a significant and bittersweet update. Following thoughtful discussion and careful review, the Board of Directors has made the decision to discontinue programming at Walnut Lake Preschool. While incredibly difficult, this decision reflects long-term challenges related to enrollment and overall sustainability.

For over 15 years, Walnut Lake Preschool has been a joyful and nurturing place for early childhood education—a place made possible through the dedication of our staff, the trust of our families, and the generous support of people like you.

Together, we’ve helped shape a warm, nurturing community where children could grow, explore, and thrive despite their unique challenges.

We are filled with deep gratitude as we prepare to close this chapter. Thank you for being a part of our story, for believing in our mission, and for investing in a place where nurturing early learners truly matters.

We will share more information in the coming months about how we plan to honor Walnut Lake Preschool and Developmental Kindergarten's legacy.
