Curious about whether you’d qualify to serve as a CASA volunteer? Here are the requirements every prospective advocate meets before taking a case:

▪️ Be 21 years of age or older
▪️ Have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
▪️ Have a clean criminal history
▪️ Provide personal or professional references
▪️ Complete a screening interview with CASA staff
▪️ Complete 30 hours of pre-service training
▪️ Commit to visiting your assigned child(ren) at least once a month for a year
▪️ Complete 12 hours of in-service training each year

The qualification that matters most is the desire to help children—and the willingness to stay with a child through a process that takes time. Many of the people who serve with us hold full-time jobs and stay involved in other parts of the community.

💙 Heroes come in many forms, and we’re grateful to have been included among them!

A heartfelt thank you to the University of Southern Indiana for inviting Vanderburgh County CASA to be part of this year’s USI Heroes float in the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival Parade!

It was an honor to stand alongside these individuals making a difference in our community. At CASA, we see every day how much it matters when people show up for others, and we’re thankful to USI for recognizing and celebrating the many ways our community comes together to make a difference.

Thank you, USI, for including CASA in this special celebration. We’re proud to be part of a community filled with heroes! 💙

Heroes come in many forms, and today they rolled down Franklin Street.

From first responders and military service members to educators, students and the everyday people who make our communities stronger, USI is proud to celebrate the heroes among us during our annual appearance in the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival Parade.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this year’s “USI Heroes” float to life and to the thousands who lined the route or participated in the parade.

“Become the voice for a child in need” is at the center of what our CASA volunteers do here in Vanderburgh County.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate builds a relationship with a child and learns about their unique situation by listening to the people involved in their life. Volunteers share what they learn with the court and help keep the child’s needs, wishes, and best interests at the center of the process.

You don’t need a legal background to make a meaningful difference. The most important qualification is a desire to help children—everything else comes through our screening and training process.

Strong communities are built when people come together to support their most vulnerable members.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Vanderburgh County CASA relies on support from individuals, businesses, community organizations, and grant funding to continue our mission.

Corporate partnerships help us recruit and train more volunteers, expand our capacity to serve children, and work toward a day when no child in Vanderburgh County has to wait for an advocate.

Right now, we can only serve about one-third of the children in our county who need a CASA volunteer. Your support helps close that gap.

Not every meaningful contribution comes in the form of a check. We accept in-kind donations that directly support our volunteers and the children they serve.

A few of the items we are always grateful to receive include:
🔹Postage stamps and office supplies
🔹Coffee pods and copier paper
🔹Restaurant or coffee gift cards for volunteers on long court days
🔹Gas gift cards
🔹Small toys or art supplies for children
🔹Hand soap and greeting cards
