Looking Glass Community Services is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that has been dedicated to serving Lane County since 1970. Over the years, our organization has grown, and so have the services we provide. In addition to providing comprehensive services to teens in crisis, Looking Glass has established programming for children and adults, allowing us to provide outstanding care to a larger

portion of our community. Our programs span the diverse fields of mental health, alcohol and drug abuse support, basic human services, juvenile justice, education, youth development, and workforce readiness.

Bike Safety Month was in May! To bring awareness, Looking Glass partnered with Shift Community Cycles to bring 50 bikes to our youth! Bikes are critical, not just for recreation, but also to ensure our youth can get to job interviews, school, remain active, and help transport their important belongings. These bikes, along with the helmets and locks provided by Shift, will go a long way in developing independence, responsibility, and community among our programs and the youths they serve.

Thank you again to Shift Community Cycles, a small nonprofit that depends on donations and volunteers to help achieve their mission to empower underserved communities through access to bikes, education, and outreach. Each of these bikes provided are built, cleaned, and tested to ensure the best quality for youths like our own.

Ben, a Looking Glass housing client, recently shared his positive experiences with the program and expressed deep gratitude for the life-saving services provided. Housing program staff member, Lane Duckett, also explains the resources available to young adults in Lane County when they engage with our housing support team.

Ben shares his story and experiences struggling with being unhoused for a period of years before seeking help from Looking Glass and getting assistance renting an apartment and with other mental health and basic life skills supports.

Thank you to Kelly Lyon Photography for the video production.

Looking Glass President and CEO Chad Westphal was on hand yesterday (May 7) for several important Governor Kotek bill signings in support of our behavioral health work - HB 4069; HB 4115; SB 1546; SB 1547.

“These bills as a group will strengthen the behavioral health workforce in numbers, improve the safety of behavioral health workers and children, and increase workforce readiness by making credentialing more efficient. Representative Nancy Nathanson has been a longtime champion behind this work along with First Lady Amy Kotek, Sentaor Lisa Reynolds and countless others. Governor Kotek’s recognition that behavioral health support is critical to the overall health of communities and her willingness to back this work was not surprising and worth celebrating. We solute her and all involved.”

Happy Thank a Youth Worker Day!

Today we’re celebrating the Youth Workers who show up with heart, skill, and unwavering belief in young people. While we value you every day, this is a moment to lift up the impact you make through your consistency, care, and commitment.

As trusted and safe adults, you walk alongside youth as they build confidence, discover their strengths, and shape their own paths toward adulthood. By centering youth voice, honoring their experiences, and fostering meaningful relationships, you create spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and empowered to lead their own transitions.

Your influence reaches far beyond our programs and into futures shaped by resilience, connection, and possibility. Thank you for choosing this work, for believing in young people even when the path is complex, and for being the steady support they can count on. We are proud to celebrate our incredible Looking Glass Youth Workers today and always ❤

In recognition of Teacher/Educator Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for everything our educators do each day at all of our Looking Glass schools.

Their dedication, patience, and commitment to supporting our students does not go unnoticed. The work they do goes far beyond instruction; they create safe, supportive environments, build meaningful relationships, and help students grow both academically and personally. Their impact is lasting and significant.

Thank you!
