Looking Glass Community Services is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that has been dedicated to serving Lane County since 1970. Over the years, our organization has grown, and so have the services we provide. In addition to providing comprehensive services to teens in crisis, Looking Glass has established programming for children and adults, allowing us to provide outstanding care to a larger

portion of our community. Our programs span the diverse fields of mental health, alcohol and drug abuse support, basic human services, juvenile justice, education, youth development, and workforce readiness.

Eugene Grocery Outlet, operated by Jake Hoffman, a longtime member of Looking Glass’ Board of Stewards, once again raised funds in the month of July as part of their annual Independence from Hunger campaign that benefited Looking Glass. This year’s fundraiser brought in $14,320 which Looking Glass will receive a share of alongside three other local nonprofits. The total raised this year is roughly DOUBLE prior year donations.

“We continue to find ways to support our local community,” Hoffman explained. “Each year (for 12 years and counting), we partner with our customers through our Independence from Hunger Campaign. Looking Glass has been a beneficiary of this campaign EVERY year because I believe in their commitment to serving local youth and have seen some of the incredible successes they have made over the years.”

Looking Glass is extremely thankful for the ongoing support of Hoffman and the River Road Grocery Outlet along with their very generous customers.

Congratulations to Riverfront School's 2026 Graduates - On Thursday, June 11th, fifteen Riverfront School’s students graduated with their much-deserved high school diplomas and GEDs. The ceremony included support from Looking Glass faculty as well as musical performances by the University of Oregon’s Alumni pep band. Eugene City Councilor, Matt Keating, also provided the graduates with a well-received inspirational speech as the events keynote speaker. Senator James Manning attended the ceremony and showed his support by rewarding two students with $1,000 scholarships from Senator’s Oregon Black Education Foundation.

Looking Glass' Riverfront School Holds 2nd Annual Pridefest Event to Kick Off Pride Month - the event on Friday, June 5th, brought together students, staff, families, and community members in a welcoming and inclusive environment. The Pride Fest was a celebration of diversity and the resilient LGBTQIA+ community. Looking Glass staff, clients, friends, families, and community partners came together create a safe, visible, and joyful space full of music, food, art, resources, and activities.

“The event highlighted the importance of celebrating diversity, fostering belonging, and strengthening connections between the school and the local community,” said Ben Molin, Looking Glass Vice President of Education. “Through shared activities, resources, and community partnerships, Pride Fest reinforced Riverfront’s commitment to supporting all students and creating a safe space where everyone is valued and respected.”

Bike Safety Month was in May! To bring awareness, Looking Glass partnered with Shift Community Cycles to bring 50 bikes to our youth! Bikes are critical, not just for recreation, but also to ensure our youth can get to job interviews, school, remain active, and help transport their important belongings. These bikes, along with the helmets and locks provided by Shift, will go a long way in developing independence, responsibility, and community among our programs and the youths they serve.

Thank you again to Shift Community Cycles, a small nonprofit that depends on donations and volunteers to help achieve their mission to empower underserved communities through access to bikes, education, and outreach. Each of these bikes provided are built, cleaned, and tested to ensure the best quality for youths like our own.

Ben, a Looking Glass housing client, recently shared his positive experiences with the program and expressed deep gratitude for the life-saving services provided. Housing program staff member, Lane Duckett, also explains the resources available to young adults in Lane County when they engage with our housing support team.

Ben shares his story and experiences struggling with being unhoused for a period of years before seeking help from Looking Glass and getting assistance renting an apartment and with other mental health and basic life skills supports.

Thank you to Kelly Lyon Photography for the video production.
