Looking Glass Community Services is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that has been dedicated to serving Lane County since 1970. Over the years, our organization has grown, and so have the services we provide. In addition to providing comprehensive services to teens in crisis, Looking Glass has established programming for children and adults, allowing us to provide outstanding care to a larger portion of our community. Our programs span the diverse fields of mental health, alcohol and drug abuse support, basic human services, juvenile justice, education, youth development, and workforce readiness.

Thank you so much to the Rotary Club of Eugene for doing an amazing donation drive for us in September!

This September, the Rotary Club of Eugene's Community Service Committee hosted a month-long household goods donation drive for Looking Glass Riverfront School & Career Center. Each week, Rotarians brought in clothing, shoes, backpacks, hygiene products, household essentials, and nonperishable snacks to their weekly meetings to support students working toward their high school diploma or GED while building career readiness skills. In addition, several Rotarians donated cash (always helpful)!

Many Riverfront clients, ages 14 to 24, are navigating housing instability and other significant challenges. Access to everyday essentials helps them show up, stay engaged, and succeed.

Founded over 100 years ago, the Rotary Club of Eugene brings together business and community leaders dedicated to the motto Service Above Self.

3rd Annual “Shoetember” Donation Drive was a Shoeper Success!

Looking Glass received a generous amount of support for the 3rd annual “Shoetember” donation drive! With the support of the community, our clients will receive a pep in their step across our programs. We received hundreds of pairs of shoes over the month-long drive.

Thank you to our outstanding partners, Burch's Shoes and OnPoint Community Credit Union for their support in collecting donations throughout the month.

And thank you to all of the amazing individual donors who dropped off or shipped shoes to our offices.

“For unhoused youth in Lane County shoes are one of the most important safety items they can own, especially going into the rainy fall and winter months,” said Homeless Youth Services Director Ashley Kirkhart. “When folks are unhoused and spending such a significant amount of time outdoors shoes are worn down quickly, especially those that aren't waterproof.”

It's Socktoberfest time! Looking Glass is once again requesting donations of new and gently used socks for homeless youth. Donations can be dropped off at our Admin office at 1790 W. 11th Avenue #200 (or contact us at [email protected]), or at collection bins at several Eugene-Springfield locations through October 31st.

3rd Annual "Braugust" Donation Drive was Quite Supportive!

Looking Glass received a generous amount of support the the 3rd annual “Braugust” Donation Drive held throughout the month of August. New and gently used bras and undergarments were donated across our programs such as New Roads, Station 7, and PEER Shelter.

In addition to the hundreds of undergarments donated by individual community members, fellow local nonprofit agency Housing Our Veterans also provided an outstanding contribution of multiple boxes of brand new undergarments of all kinds!

This year’s crop of 20 under 40 “Rising Business Stars” as selected by a panel of judges in collaboration with the Eugene Chamber of Commerce included Looking Glass VP of Homeless Youth Services, Brittany Means-Luna!

"Brittany exemplifies the kind of passionate people we aspire to work with at Looking Glass, and we are proud of her achievement," said Looking Glass Community Services President & CEO, Chad Westphal. "She is one of our top leaders and I'm excited to see the continued impact she’ll have on youth and families throughout the community in the years to come."

Means-Luna has been with Looking Glass since 2019 and has been the VP of Homeless Youth Services since 2023 where she leads over 100 staff while partnering with the executive team to strengthen services, support organizational sustainability, and improve outcomes for youth, young adults, and families experiencing homelessness and instability.

“I’m honored by this recognition and grateful for the colleagues, mentors, and community partners who make this work possible.,” said Means-Luna. “Together, we are creating opportunities for young people and families to thrive and build brighter futures.”

Looking Glass Partnership Spotlight: Food for Lane County - Since 2011, Looking Glass Community Services and FFLC have partnered together to provide true vocational and work opportunities for Looking Glass Center Point School students. Through Looking Glass’ Community Matters service-learning classes, students volunteer every Friday with local businesses and organizations to develop job skills in teambuilding, community engagement, and work competencies. Students leave with real job skills to add to their resumes while supporting other populations in need throughout Lane County.

Food for Lane County Volunteer Coordinator, Dan Budd, expanded on what makes Center Point School students unique as volunteers. “I think it’s a testament to Center Point School that their students really get to know each other on a level that brings them all together to fill an important need in our community.

In addition to working with our Center Point School, Food For Lane County also works closely with our homeless youth services programs. “Food for Lane County is a valued community partner that supports all HYS programs, including PEER Shelter, Station 7, and Housing Services,” said Ashley Kirkhart, Director of Shelter and Crisis Services.
