Cooper update, for his many fans! ❤️‍🩹We got all his test results and we're happy to report the biopsy came back negative - no evidence of cancer!

The mass and draining tracts the surgeon removed did show evidence of a bacterial infection that has likely been there for quite some time. He is recovering well from the surgery and has his next recheck on Tuesday. He's still in "cone jail" and on restricted activity until his sutures come out, but he got to enjoy some basking in the warm sunshine today. 🌞

Next step for Cooper will be a dental to address his worn and damaged teeth. He will likely need multiple extractions. We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to his care so far, but this will be another expensive procedure. Please chip in if you can. 🐾

Thank you for following his journey. He'll be available for adoption soon! ♥

Three collies adopted in one day! Yesterday Dazzle, who came to us after being adopted from and then returned to the shelter in Roseburg, went to her new home after spending some time settling into foster so we could get to know her. And, as predicted, the puppies we received from the hoarding case in Elko, NV were both adopted by CCR fosters. We're thrilled for all three of these girls and their new families!

The three adults we took in from Elko are still in their evaluation period, and Cooper is still recovering from surgery. Watch for updates on all of them soon!

We're so grateful for all the donations toward Cooper's medical care. His surgery yesterday was more extensive than originally expected. He's recovering now and has multiple follow-up appointments over the next couple of weeks. We will have pathology results sometime in the next 10 days, and that will determine next steps for him. We're also consulting with a specialist in veterinary dentistry about options to address his teeth. Your support allows us to provide him with the care he needs. Please keep sharing!

We want to share a heartfelt thank you for all the support we have received over the past week! We have gotten over 20 new adoption applications (in addition to many great applications we already had on file), and many other messages and inquiries. Thank you all for your patience as we work to catch up on communication.

The Elko dogs are settling in well to their foster homes and starting to adapt to the comforts of being well cared for! One of the best parts of rescue is starting to see their confidence and personalities come out once they know they are safe. 💜 Vet visits are being scheduled and they will be in their treatment/evaluation period for at least the next couple of weeks. We will begin contacting potential matches once we have a better idea of each individual dog's needs.

We have also been blown away by the generous donations we have received. Thank you to everyone who has chipped in to make it possible for us to give rescue collies the care they need and deserve. We couldn't do this without you. 🫶

📣Cooper update and request for help!📣

Cooper came into Saving Grace Humane Society in Roseburg last month after his owner passed away, and we agreed to transfer him into our care. We've been treating him for parasites, skin, ear, and eye infections, and consulting with veterinary specialists regarding a draining mass on one of his hind legs. We had a follow-up appointment at the specialty vet hospital today. Surgery is recommended to remove the mass, with additional pathology to rule out cancer.

He is scheduled for surgery next Tuesday, and it will be an expensive procedure - estimated at $4,500 or more. We're committed to doing all we can to help this sweet, goofy boy live a more comfortable and healthy life.

Any contributions toward his care are greatly appreciated!

Donations can be made via Facebook, PayPal/Venmo (we're ), or by mail 💌 to Cascade Collie Rescue, PO Box 51141, Eugene, OR, 97405.

Thank you for helping us help Cooper!

On the way back to Oregon with our precious cargo!

These sweeties have endured the unthinkable and will require a lot of patience and support. Although they are young adults, they're the equivalent of young puppies in terms of basic life experiences like potty training, wearing a collar, walking on a leash, etc. We're looking forward to seeing them blossom and learn to trust and feel safe after we settle them into foster homes.

CCR has been working behind the scenes with our friends at NorCal Collie Rescue, Southland Collie Rescue, Western Canada Collie Rescue ( ) and Southwest Collie/Sheltie Rescue to respond to a hoarding case that originated in Elko, Nevada. After more emails, calls, and texts than any of us can count, we are proud to announce that all 28 collies from this case are in the process of being transferred to our rescues. Huge thanks to Alyssa and the team at the Elko Animal Shelter for partnering with us and for all your hard work to care for these collies after they were seized!

CCR picked up these two darling puppies yesterday, and we have a second transport scheduled this weekend to pick up three young adults.

All five collies will be in an evaluation period before becoming available for adoption, and will be receiving additional veterinary care and support to prepare them for their new homes. We will update our website when they are available for adoption.

Donations to support their care are greatly appreciated and can be made via our website, or mailed to PO Box 51141, Eugene, OR, 97405. Any little bit helps!

Interested adopters can apply via our website: www.cascadecollierescue.org/adopt As always, we'll review recent applications already on file when we're ready to place these collies.

Watch our site and social media for updates, and thanks for your support!

Update: Cooper has been transferred into our care from Saving Grace Humane Society. The shelter told us that Dazzle, the female tricolor, was adopted by one of the Saving Grace volunteers. We are working on assessing Cooper's medical needs and getting to know him. Based on the shelter's medical assessment and our initial observations, he is going to require treatment for his skin and eyes. Contributions toward his care are appreciated! We will post updates here and on our website once he is available for adoption.

As always, we continuously review adoption applications we have on file when seeking the right match for any collie in our care. Applications can be submitted at www.cascadecollierescue.org/adopt

Update 2/19: foster secured. See new post for details.

‼️Foster needed for Cooper and Dazzle ASAP. They are both currently in the shelter at Saving Grace Humane Society in Roseburg. Cooper (blue merle) is a 6 y/o neutered male. Dazzle (tricolor) is a 5 y/o spayed female. Both have medical needs. They were surrendered to the shelter when their owner passed away. We are hoping to keep them together. The shelter staff described them both as sweet, quiet and a bit shy/reserved. They have lived with other dogs and cats, but we have no other history at this time. We will arrange transport as soon as we have a foster confirmed.

If you are interested in fostering, please fill out our foster application at https://www.cascadecollierescue.org/foster
