Fundholder Spotlight: George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers

For more than four decades, the George G. Glenner Alzheimer's Family Centers, Inc..® has supported San Diego families affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory impairment diseases.

Through affordable adult day care programs, caregiver support, case management, education, crisis intervention, and referrals, the Glenner Centers help families navigate the challenges of memory loss with compassion, dignity, and practical support.

As an RSFF nonprofit fundholder, the Glenner Centers are investing in the long-term strength of its mission and its ability to continue caring for individuals and families affected by dementia throughout our region.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage of the first responders, service members, families, and communities forever shaped by that day.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to reflect on the extraordinary acts of service, sacrifice, and compassion that emerged in the face of tragedy.

May we honor their memory by carrying forward a spirit of service and care for one another.

We will never forget.

As the new school year begins, the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation team spent time volunteering with Casa De Amistad to help prepare for the return of its reading and education programs.

Our team organized books and materials for the first sessions of the year, when students, mentors, and families will come together to build connections, get to know one another, and set intentions for the months ahead.

Casa de Amistad, an RSF Foundation fundholder, provides academic support, mentoring, enrichment, and college and career guidance to help North County students thrive. We were grateful to support the thoughtful preparation that helps each student begin the year feeling welcomed, encouraged, and ready to learn.

Labor Day is a chance to recognize the dedication, skill, and everyday contributions of people whose work strengthens our communities.

At Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, we are especially grateful for the nonprofit leaders, volunteers, community partners, and professionals who devote their time and talents to making San Diego a stronger place to live, work, and give.

In observance of Labor Day, the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation office will be closed on Monday, September 7th. We hope the holiday offers a well-deserved opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends.

Our office will reopen on Tuesday, September 8th. Happy Labor Day!

Welcome to the Board, Meg O’Grady!

We are pleased to welcome Meg O’Grady, Ed.D., Senior Vice President of Military and Government Programs at National University, to the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation Board of Directors!

An Army veteran, military spouse, and member of the West Point class of 1990, Meg has spent nearly three decades building programs and partnerships that create stronger education, employment, and career pathways for service members, veterans, and military families. Her leadership has spanned the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Labor, higher education, and the private sector.

Meg’s experience, perspective, and longstanding commitment to the military community will be especially valuable as the Foundation continues to strengthen our community leadership and Supporting Our Heroes work.

Recently, Rancho Santa Fe Foundation convened fundholders, philanthropists, and community partners to explore collaborative solutions to San Diego’s housing challenges.

We were pleased to host YIGBY (Yes in God’s Back Yard), which works with faith communities to transform underutilized land into affordable housing, in partnership with Lucky Duck Foundation.

At RSFF, we believe thoughtful philanthropy begins with listening, learning, and staying close to the people and ideas shaping our region.

This month, we are proud to spotlight Junior Achievement of San Diego County, an RSF Foundation nonprofit fundholder helping young people build the knowledge, confidence, and skills to shape their futures.

Through immersive learning experiences and mentorship in financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship, JA San Diego connects students with practical lessons in business, money management, career pathways, and economic opportunity. Their programs help young people understand how classroom learning applies to life, work, and future success.

As the RSF Foundation continues to support nonprofit fundholders strengthening lives across our region, we are grateful to highlight Junior Achievement’s commitment to preparing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and community contributors.

The Sorrento Fire is another reminder of the wildfire risk communities across San Diego face. We are thinking of everyone affected and wishing them safety and a swift recovery. We are grateful to the firefighters and first responders working to protect our region, including the teams at CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire and San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

At Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, fire prevention and preparedness is an important part of our community leadership work. Through partnerships, education, and investment in prevention, we are working to help strengthen our community before the next emergency begins.

One example is our current collaboration with UC San Diego, Rancho Santa Fe Association, ALERTCalifornia, Santa Fe Irrigation District, and Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District to advance wildfire monitoring capabilities in our area. The project is designed to strengthen early detection and situational awareness, helping fire professionals respond when minutes matter.

Wildfire risk extends beyond any one neighborhood. Staying informed, preparing our homes and families, and knowing where to find trusted information all contribute to a safer, more prepared region.
