CARRET RECEIVES A GRANT FROM SAN DIEGO COUNTY
In recognition and support of the CARRET Evacuation Team’s outstanding service to San Diego County residents, we are deeply honored to receive a San Diego County Neighborhood Reinvestment Program grant.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of San Diego County District 5 Supervisor Jim Desmond’s office for believing in CARRET’ mission and recognizing the vital free evacuation service our team provides to horses and livestock and residents across San Diego County.
We are tremendously grateful for this generous investment, which will help purchase critical safety equipment for our Boots on the Ground volunteers as they lead trailer convoys into hazardous fire and disaster zones to evacuate horses and livestock. Walkie-talkies will keep convoy members connected when cell service is disrupted, reducing the risk that volunteers lose contact in dangerous conditions, while emergency first-aid kits will provide vital support for both horses and their people. The grant will also fund additional items, including essential fire-safety equipment, to help safeguard volunteers working in and around active danger zones. This grant not only strengthens CARRET’s ability to provide free, lifesaving evacuation assistance throughout San Diego County—it helps ensure that the courageous volunteers entering danger zones can carry out that mission as safely as possible.
