Memorial Day reminds us that freedom is never free. Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As Veterans, families, and citizens, it is our duty to carry their legacy forward by remembering their courage, honoring their memory, and supporting one another.

From all of us at Cameron Ponder VFW Post 12237, we wish everyone a meaningful and respectful Memorial Day.

We remember the fallen.

Today we pause to remember and honor Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Kentucky, who died from injuries sustained during an enemy attack while serving in Operation Epic Fury in Saudi Arabia.

Sgt. Pennington’s service and sacrifice remind us that the cost of freedom is still being paid by brave men and women in uniform every day.

Cameron Ponder VFW Post 12237 extends our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fellow Soldiers. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

We will continue to honor his service and the legacy of all who gave their lives defending our nation.

Rest easy, Soldier. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
