Speakers for ATHS June 2026 meeting were Larry and Mary Elliot. Larry and Mary are historical interpreters', the program presented was the life of Lincoln from birth to his death at Ford's theatre. Larry has been presenting programs on Lincoln for the last 25 years along with his wife, whose name is Mary. She plays the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in the presentation.

Family tradition in his lineage holds that his great-great-great grandmother, Mary Brooks LaRue Enlow Rathbone (also referred to locally as "Granny Rathbone"), was the frontier midwife who assisted Nancy Hanks Lincoln during the birth of Abraham Lincoln on February 12, 1809. It was a wonderful presentation.

Genealogy on a Budget: 6 Money-Saving Techniques

There is nothing wrong with trying to save a little money. Some of the tips here are more or less common sense unless you have not thought of them. I have used most at one time or another. Free Genealogy Websites, "FamilySearch is the largest free genealogy website. Backed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," but don't let that worry you. One person I know did not want to use it for fear the Mormans would make her a church member. Wait for DNA Discounts, I have done that with Ancestry who will typically discount to as low as $20 a kit. I keep a couple laying around for wherever they are needed. Use Genealogy Software Instead of Online Family Trees: This is one that I am firmly committed to. I keep a basic tree online, but I personally use Family Tree Maker for my main database, located on my computer away from prying eyes.
It's a good article, check it out!

Save some cash in your family history quest with these six easy genealogy money-saving tips for saving big on website subscriptions, DNA tests and more.
