Independent Order of Odd Fellows Aaron Lodge 412

Independent Order of Odd Fellows Aaron Lodge 412 The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is one of the oldest and largest fraternities in the world. JOIN US! The I.O.O.F.

As an organization, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows aims to provide a framework that promotes personal and social development. Lodge degrees and activities aim to improve and elevate every person to a higher, nobler plane; to extend sympathy and aid to those in need, making their burdens lighter, relieving the darkness of despair; to war against vice in every form, and to be a great moral pow

er and influence for the good of humanity. For members, the degrees in Odd Fellowship emphasizes a leaving of the old life and the start of a better one, of welcoming travelers, and of helping those in need. The command of the IOOF is to ”visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead and educate the orphan.” Specifically, IOOF today are dedicated to the following purposes:

To improve and elevate the character of mankind by promoting the principles of friendship, love, truth, faith, hope, charity and universal justice. To help make the world a better place to live by aiding each other, the community, the less fortunate, the youth, the elderly, the environment and the community in every way possible. To promote good will and harmony amongst peoples and nations through the principle of universal fraternity, holding the belief that all men and women regardless of race, nationality, religion, social status, gender, rank and station are brothers and sisters. Ideally, an Odd Fellows lodge is a place for fellowship in all its forms, from hanging out and just having fun, to discussion, to networking, to collaboration on creative and constructive projects, all with an eye not only on our own satisfaction but on what we might offer to the community at large. An ideal lodge is a great venue for a lot of positive energy and all members are encouraged to contribute their share. In addition, lodges provide an international social network of brothers and sisters that extends to 30 countries worldwide. If travelling is an interest, membership can provide a valuable network that will very much welcome an international visitor, and assist in their enterprises, and certainly their travels wherever possible. NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) will not discriminate against any individual on the basis of disability, age (other than that of minimum to join the Order (lodge, club or group), ethnicity, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or other social identity. will make reasonable modifications in policies, practices, or procedures when such modifications are necessary to afford its services and facilities to individuals with disabilities, unless the modifications would fundamentally alter the nature of its services. will not exclude any individual based on disability, age, ethnicity, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or other social identity from the full and equal enjoyment of its services and facilities, unless the individual poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others, or him/herself, that cannot be eliminated by a modification of policies, practices, or procedures or by the provision of auxiliary aids or services. will not exclude any individual from the full and equal enjoyment of its services and facilities because of the individual’s association with a person of disability, age, ethnicity, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion or other social identity.

Odd Fellow Rites were rendered last night for our Brother Jim Schaeffer at the J.C. Kirby & Son Chapel in Bowling Green. It was a solemn and deeply emotional duty—one we perform out of love, respect, and the sacred bonds of our Order.

Members of Aeolian Lodge No. 51 gathered to offer their final valediction, honoring a brother whose service and friendship strengthened the chain of our fraternity, honoring a life defined by service, duty, and quiet leadership.

Jim served our Order as Deputy Grand Master for the State of Kentucky, as well as local president and secretary, always leading with the steady hand of a true Odd Fellow.

His professional life reflected that same commitment. Jim dedicated decades to law enforcement and public safety—as a Police Officer and Police Sergeant at WKU, an Inspector with Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, and a Probation & Parole Officer with the Department of Corrections. He was also a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Knights of Columbus.

Beyond his badges and titles, Jim poured himself into community life: nine years on the Southland Family Club Pool Board, a devoted band parent, a tireless volunteer, and the friend everyone called when something needed fixing.

A brother, a mentor, a father figure to many—Jim lived the principles of Friendship, Love, and Truth in every circle he touched.

Farewell, my Brother.
Until we meet again in that eternal home.

Brothers, Sisters
The Grand Warden is doing a little early spring‑cleaning… in January… because that’s how Odd Fellows roll.

We’re updating mailing addresses and membership rosters across Kentucky. Don’t worry — no secretaries are in trouble, and we’re not pointing fingers. We just know a few of you moved sometime between 2025 and “I’ll update it next week.”

To keep everything accurate, we’re asking all members to confirm their current mailing address and contact info. This helps your secretary look like a champion and keeps you from missing important notices… and yes, the occasional dues reminder.

We’re also trying to track down a few Brothers and Sisters whose mail came back to us like a bad boomerang. If you know how to reach any of these fine folks, give them a friendly nudge:

Chris Childers, Jackie Cracraft, Joy Weber, Leroy Gallenstein (Maysville), Ethan & Elizabeth Daniels (Prestonsburg), Jim Ferkin (Campbellsville), Michael Wilson (Louisville), and Robert Newman (Bowling Green).
Their mail was undeliverable, and they’re missing out on all the great things we’re doing.

Thanks for helping us keep our records sharp and our fellowship strong.

Fraternally,
Bruce Fortin
The Grand Warden

Happy Thanksgiving!

"Brothers, sisters, and friends — tonight we lift our glasses not only in thanks for the feast before us, but for the fellowship that surrounds us.
To the Oddfellows, whose principles remind us that true abundance is threefold:
Sustenance for the body, filling our bellies with the fruits of labor and generosity.
Knowledge for the mind, guiding us with wisdom, truth, and understanding.
Happiness for the soul, found in the warmth of family, friendship, and community.
May this Thanksgiving be a celebration of gratitude, of bonds that endure, and of the joy that comes when we share not only food, but love and truth.
To Odd Fellowship, to family, and to the blessings of this day — cheers!"

Grand Masters picnic at the Lions Club fairgrounds, Tollrsboro KY, 14 June 2025. We had a good showing of 57 of our brothers and sisters for a good meal and friendship. Our GM and his wife, mostly wife put together a great picnic. The weather played along though we did have a quick passing shower.
