NEW SERIES: The National & Global Travels of Octavia "Tía" Magoffin Glasgow ✈️ Did you know that the Magoffin Home's final private resident was a true world traveler?… Postcard from Magoffin Home Collection.
In 1981 Lucy Lucker wife of Gerald Lucker step son of Tia's sister Harriet wrote this postcard during her travels to Beijing—referred to in her message by its historical international name, Peiping. She writes to Tia to share that she has been doing a lot of walking and sightseeing despite the cold weather forecast. At the exact time of writing, she notes that they are heading out to visit the Great Wall of China. The card was sent via international air mail to Miss O. M. Glasgow at the historic Magoffin Home in El Paso, Texas, and features a vibrant photograph of the imperial Nine-Dragon Screen in Beihai Park on its front side.
