🚵‍♂️ BMBA Update
We had an incredible turnout for last week’s full moon ride, which also happened to be a partial lunar eclipse. The northeast trails were filled with riders and hikers all evening, and it was great meeting so many new people! 🌕🚴‍♀️

🏁 Race Season Is Here!
It’s officially race season in the Borderland, with events lined up back to back:
• High Altitude Classic in Cloudcroft
• Chili Pepper Challenge
• Chupacabra
• Jackalope
• 12 Hours of Old El Paso, returning to the Roundhouse
• Dona Ana Mountain in Las Cruces
There are plenty of running events on the calendar, too, including Cactus to Cloud, the Transmountain half marathon, and the Flying Horse Half Marathon. Fronteria is also bringing back its fundraiser in early December at Resler Canyon, featuring a 5K and a 1-mile walk. Then, in January, we’ll have the El Paso Puzzler, our biggest fundraiser of the year! 🏃‍♂️🌄

📣 Help Shape the Future of Local Trails
If you haven’t completed the BMBA community survey yet, head over to bmbaelpaso.org and share your thoughts. The survey is open to everyone—not just members—and we’re already reviewing the responses to help guide our priorities for the next year or two. We’re hearing some great feedback about what the community wants, and your input helps us advocate for the trails and riding opportunities that matter most.

🗓️ Annual Membership Meeting
We’re also working on plans for our annual membership meeting in November. This members-only gathering will be a chance to ask questions, hear updates, and enjoy a ride, meeting, and food together. We’re still finalizing the details, so stay tuned!
As the heat finally begins to fade, it’s a perfect time to get outside and enjoy the trails. Grab your bike, bring a friend, and come ride with us! See you out there. 🤘

New trailhead ribbon cutting. This is a great opportunity to show the city leaders how much we care and want more access to open space. Please join the ribbon cutting on Thursday September 3rd at 6pm. Corner of Bear Ridge Dr and Franklin Hills St.
this trailhead is the first for Lost Dog that has water 👏

This morning a few of the BMBA board members spent the morning with Frontera Land Alliance at their volunteer meet and greet. It’s great to see so many people who want to give back to our amazing trail systems.

Have a group that needs volunteer hours? Reach out to either Frontera Land Alliance or Borderland Mountain Bike Association and we can see about getting some trail work days set up. Also the State Park is always looking for volunteers, stop by and see them at the visitor center to see how you can sign up with them.

BMBA full moon ride and it’s a partial lunar eclipse!
Thursday August 27th
Meet: Chuck Heinrich
Wheels down 7:30pm
13-15 miles, trails will include: Tin Mine, Scenic, Woody’s, Blue Moon, Mad Cow, Lazy Cow, Lost Cow, Goon’s Loop, and others.
Although this is a no drop ride it is considered an Intermediate level ride.
Bring park pass, lights, helmet, bike, hydration and be ready to have some fun.
Look for Rodney in the Red truck at Chuck.
