Yesterday, April 20th, during the Las Cruces City Council meeting, our community came together for a meaningful moment of giving as checks were presented to Days for Girls Global Charity and Casa de Peregrinos.

Because of the generosity of the El Paso and Las Cruces communities, real, tangible support is reaching those who need it most.

For Casa de Peregrinos and the Rescue Mission of El Paso, donations included 58 pairs of shower shoes, 39 detergents, 59 new underwear items, 43 work shoes, and 30 backpacks and coats—totaling $6,260. These are everyday essentials that restore dignity and provide relief to individuals and families navigating difficult circumstances.

In support of Days for Girls Global Charity, the impact extended even further. A total of 171 refugee menstrual kits, 96 new mother kits, and 260 school menstrual kits were donated, equaling $6,825. These kits help ensure that girls and women around the world have access to the resources they need to stay healthy, continue their education, and move forward with confidence.

This moment was a powerful reminder that even small contributions—items as simple as a $5 donation—can come together to create something truly meaningful.

To the El Paso and Las Cruces community: thank you. Your generosity, compassion, and willingness to show up for others is what made this possible. Yesterday’s ceremony was more than a presentation—it was a reflection of a community that cares deeply and acts on it.

Today, we had the privilege of presenting another check to the Children’s Grief Center of El Paso—an organization that continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families in our community.

For nearly three decades, the Center has provided grief support, education, and connection for those navigating loss. Through peer support groups, educational programs, and spaces for healing, they remind every child that they are not alone—and that there is no one “right” way to grieve.

Because of the generosity of our El Paso and Las Cruces community, even more families will now have access to these vital services. Every act of giving came together to create something powerful: support, understanding, and hope for children who need it most.

Earlier today, a check was presented to the Center Against Sexual & Family Violence, made possible by the incredible generosity of our community.

Because of you, hundreds of essential items will now reach individuals and families in need:
• 199 hygiene kits
• 183 towels & blankets
• 30 household supply kits
• 109 pairs of new shoes
• 163 winter clothing items

Many of these donations came from items priced between just $5 and $25, a powerful reminder that even the smallest acts of giving can come together to make a meaningful difference.

El Paso and Las Cruces, thank you for showing such compassion and care. You have created real support and hope for those who need it most.

Today we had the privilege of gathering at the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank to present a check representing the incredible generosity of our community.

Through the Giving Machines, 67,935 meals were donated to help those in need—each one made possible by someone choosing to give.

During the ceremony, the food bank was also presented with the item cards from the Giving Machines as a tangible reminder of the meals and hope donated by so many.

Because overhead costs are covered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 100% of every donation goes directly to the participating charities, who then use those funds to provide the exact items people chose to give.

We are deeply grateful for the kindness and compassion shown by the El Paso and Las Cruces communities. Your generosity is truly making a difference—one meal, one person, one family at a time. ❤️

A semi-truck of food was delivered this morning to El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank.

This donation is part of America250, a nationwide initiative delivering 250 food donation trucks to communities in all 50 states, honoring 250 years of service, gratitude, and unity in the United States.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this meaningful act of service possible.

On Friday, January 16, 2026, a full semi-truck of food from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be delivered to El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank, supporting families across the El Paso community.

This shipment is part of America250, the nationwide commemoration honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States, focused on service, gratitude, and unity. Through this initiative, 250 food donation trucks are being delivered to communities in all 50 states.

The delivery will include a brief program with remarks from community and faith leaders, patriotic music, and a photo opportunity. The effort reflects a shared commitment to caring for those in need and strengthening communities through collaboration.
