Today marks 2 weeks since Walk for Animals was held on the State House Lawn and we are still beaming with joy with how successful this year’s event was — and that’s all thanks to YOU! 😁 The current fundraising total is up to $83,250.30, and donations continue to trickle in through the mail. We can’t thank everyone enough who rallied together to make this achievement possible. Thank you to our nearly fifty sponsors, dozens of fundraisers and donors, volunteers, and our Master of Ceremonies, Wasilenko and Sakaniwa of ABC 22/FOX 44 for helping to make this year’s Walk a true celebration. These funds will provide hundreds of animals the care they need to heal, preparing them for new, loving homes.

🐾 We hope you enjoy this recap video highlighting all the fur-tastic fun we had at the Walk, recognizing our Top Fundraisers, Dog Contest winners, and all of our generous sponsors!

Indiana Jones is in the spotlight! Thank you to our friends at Onion River Animal Hospital for sharing Indiana Jones this week. 🐶

Indiana Jones seeks an experienced dog adopter to take him home. This juvenile boy shows many of what we would call "herding" behaviors. In his prior home, he would be nippy with the children of the household, herd them around, and even take their shoes off their feet! We have been channeling his herding desires into more appropriate pastimes, such as using a herding ball in our yards.

He has no prior experience with felines, but with his neediness to want to herd, should go to a cat free home. In his prior home, he did fine with another canine friend but we have not tried him with another CVHS canine yet.

He can be a little cautious meeting new humans, so his meeting with potential adopters might take a couple visits before everyone is comfortable.

Sometimes all it takes is a few shares - Thank you to our friends at NorthCountry Federal Credit Union for helping to put the spotlight on adorable duo, Biscotti and Frappe! 🐾

These sweet littermates have been together their whole lives and are now looking for a loving home they can share. They’re an affectionate pair who love head bumps, cozy naps, and curling up with their people.

They’ve lived as the only pets in their home but may do well with a slow introduction to other respectful animals. They’ve also done great with kids and would make wonderful companions for the right family.

If you’re looking to add a little extra love (and a lot of purring) to your home, check out their profiles, here:

🐶🐱In its 34th year, Walk for Animals still proves to be one of our most anticipated events of the year! Despite the early morning rain showers, so many of our friends and community partners came together to help make this year’s event a smashing success. Endless smiles and wagging tails were seen all around with guests visiting vendors, participating in all of the fur-tastic activities, and parading through downtown Montpelier to show off our collective love for our furry friends.

Event MCs, or as we like to call them, Meow-ster’s of Ceremonies, Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko Journalist/Reporter Lily Sakaniwa - Abc 22/Fox 44 of Abc 22/Fox 44, My Champlain Valley News carried the event with their captivating personalities and loved up on every pet that crossed their path.

Thank you to everyone who came together for this crucial fundraising event. To our incredible peer-to-peer fundraisers, donors, event sponsors, volunteers, and board members, your hard work and efforts made it possible for us to not only meet our $80,000 fundraising goal, but exceeded it, raising a total of $81,997.55! These funds will provide safe shelter and medical care to hundreds of needy animals who turn to CVHS for help this year.

We’d also like to express our thanks to Hannaford Supermarkets, Candy Co., Inc, and CVHS volunteer, Wendy Knapp for donating all of the refreshments for the event. Along with Sean from North Branch Tech Services and Preya Holland for taking such wonderful photos!

We are grateful for each and every one of you who made this possible. Thank you! 🥰
