Read Angie Harbin's Executive Director update before September ends.

"Today, nearly 900 Downstreet apartments are home to more than 1,500 people across central Vermont. Since the Speranza Inn opened, 25 households that once needed emergency shelter have moved into permanent housing. Each year, approximately 600 older adults and people living with disabilities receive support that helps them remain safely in their homes and connected to their communities. Britt, Kyle, and their two daughters used to have to get in their car and drive if they wanted to immerse their family in nature. Today, they simply walk out of their front door at Muddy Moose Homes in Morrisville, .

In partnership with Stowe Land Trust, Downstreet converted eight former vacation rentals into full-time, single-family homes while Stowe Land Trust conserved 150 acres of land, hiking and skiing trails, and waterfalls adjacent to the homes.

When land conservation and affordable housing work together, this is the result: a life that often feels reserved for the well-off becomes accessible to all Vermonters.
