We're happy to share that the Barre Community Relief Fund successfully reached its goals for fundraising and distributing aid since its launch following this summer's floods. This program has been a beacon of hope for our community, helping so many individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits in Barre City and Barre Town. Established to provide immediate assistance after the flooding, the Barre Community Relief Fund has been able to support numerous people thanks to the generous contributions from donors, volunteers, and partners. We take great pride in the positive impact this fund has had on our community, from assisting small businesses and nonprofits to helping families in need. Nearly 95% of all applications were approved in less than 10 days, with almost half a million dollars distributed to hundreds of Barre households and organizations.

We'd like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed, asked for help, or supported this work. Your dedication has been vital to its success. Pausing the Flood Relief Program doesn't mean we're stepping back from supporting Barre. We're committed to continuing our support for the community. BCRF aims to introduce a new, more sustainable grant program for those facing economic distress in early 2024.

If you have any pending inquiries about the Barre Community Relief Fund's grant program or work, please contact [email protected]. We are so grateful to everyone involved in making this program a success. Together, we've demonstrated the incredible power of community support.

Thank you once again for your unwavering commitment to our shared community.

Sincerely, The Barre Community Relief Fund Board

"Pearl Street Pizza is still a fairly new business. We are coming up on our 2nd year anniversary this January. We still have a lot of overhead and debt that we are chipping away at. Thats normal. What isn’t, is a natural disaster like this that completely wipes out our pantry and damages expensive equipment that we were expecting to get many years out of. The Barre Community Relief Fund allowed us to get back on our feet for the long term. We’ve had to significantly change our day-to-day processes so we could continue to put out pizza we’re proud of due to the loss of our beautiful Italian dough mixer. The support we received from them has gone toward replacing equipment and goods. The forecast for our restaurant looks good and it's all because of the support of groups like this that are keeping businesses moving in the right direction." -Pearl Street Pizza

"Two of the most significant experiences we've had from the flood have been how much our community came to our aid both physically and financially. The other is no matter how much we think we have a handle on what the flood has cost us, we're always uncovering or learning that it has cost us more. Our community has come forward $1.00 at a time to help us. That's what it took to save our business. As a small business, grants like the one provided by the Barre Community Fund make a significant impact. I am grateful for these lessons and humbled at the willingness of our community to work so hard in helping us get back to working hard for them."

In July of 2023, the catastrophic and historic flood in Barre gravely affected multitudes of businesses, homeowners, and people living and working in the area. The Barre Community Relief Fund was established to help raise money for assistance in recovery and rebuilding. Our mission is to aid those affected by the flood in Barre. We believe that by working together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in our community.

Our goal is to raise $1 Million which will benefit countless small businesses, homeowners, and individuals across the Barre area. Given the scale of the devastation, there is a great need, and we are fully committed to aiding those in distress. Since July BCRF has raised over $400,000 towards our $1MM Goal.

Here is what a recent recipient said….

"We are so appreciative of the Barre Community Relief Fund. The unexpected cost of the flood cleanup was overwhelming, the Barre Community Relief Fund Grant was instrumental in helping us with that. We are grateful to everyone who donated to this fund, thank you all!"
