October is both ADHD Awareness Month and a time to recognize World Mental Health Day.

Mental health is health. Everyone deserves to be treated with compassion, dignity, and understanding and everyone should have access to care and resources when they need them.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month & Health Literacy Month! 📚

This month, we’re highlighting two important parts of staying healthy: understanding your health and having access to the care you need.

For many Vermonters, free clinics can be an important part of that journey by helping connect you with accessible and affordable (free!) health care, information, and community resources. Three of VFRC’s member clinics are part of the You First program at the Department of Health which provides breast and cervical cancer screening support.

It's Wishlist Wednesday!! Our clinics are in need of several items including: band-aids, first aid supplies, denture adhesive, insect repellent, sunscreen, Biotene, gauze, and medical tape! If you're interested in donating these items, please feel free to bring them to the medical clinic during regular business hours (Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM).

We are incredibly grateful to Barre VT Pride for a generous $2,000 donation to support the work of the People's Health & Wellness Clinic and an additional $2,000 donation to Vermont CARES, our partner and tenant at 51 Church Street.

What began in 2021 as a small community bake sale has grown into an annual celebration that brings people together while raising thousands of dollars for Vermont nonprofits. That growth is a testament to the dedication, generosity, and community spirit behind Barre Pride.

Ericka and Joe Reil and Danny McGibney from Barre Pride stopped by the clinic today to deliver the donations, and we were grateful for the opportunity to thank them in person.

Thank you to everyone at Barre Pride for all you do for the Granite City and beyond. The People's Health & Wellness Clinic is proud to stand in support of our LGBTQ+ friends, neighbors, patients, and community members.

Your generosity helps strengthen the network of care and support that makes our community a healthier, more welcoming place for everyone.

and will be bringing our services to the community on August 13 from 4-6pm before the concert! 🫂

🚐Our mobile healthcare van will be parked at the library before the show begins.

🏥 Remote Area Medical Coming to Bennington!

We're excited to share that Remote Area Medical (RAM), in partnership with GBCS Bennington, is bringing free healthcare to the Bennington area on August 8–9 at Mt. Anthony Union Middle School (747 East Rd., Bennington).

Services will include free comprehensive dental (including extractions and cleanings), medical (including general medical exams and breast and pelvic exams), and vision care with no insurance or ID required.

You may know that You First pays for mammograms and Pap tests. But did you know that You First also has a health coaching program for enrolled members between ages 35-64? The You First health coaching program is free to eligible Vermonters and can support you with reaching your heart health goals—like walking more, eating more vegetables, or managing your blood pressure.

To be eligible, you must live in Vermont, need preventative breast or cervical cancer screenings (have or have had breasts or a cervix), and meet our income guidelines (up to $39,900 a year for one person).

Free clinics do so much more than just provide healthcare services. They are deeply embedded in their communities and often act as the connective tissue between fractured health and social service systems. Great to see our Barre member, People's Health & Wellness Clinic, out and about sponsoring the Wednesday Currier Park concert series!
