Clear Creek Farm Duvall

Clear Creek Farm Duvall Bringing people together in community to celebrate the natural world through art, craft, and exploration.

Welcome to The Hive at Clear Creek Farm -- a gathering place to explore the arts, crafts and traditions that bind us to one another and to our Mother Earth

Our focus on nature-based art and crafts traditions inspired us to want to start at the very beginning– with the soil and the miraculous network of life under our feet that makes everything else possible, including the plants and animals that

sustain us and provide us with fibers and pigments and more that become our “art supplies.” Our classes and workshops are loosely grouped into categories reflecting the journey from healthy soils to the art and crafted products we make from harvested and foraged natural materials.

The very talented Tami is here to teach you how to make socks!

In this two-part workshop, learn how to make socks step by step. In the first lesson we will cover joining in the round and small circumference knitting using magic loop. (If you are experienced in and prefer another small circumference method, bring two sets of the appropriate size US3 needles for your method.) We will knit a short cuff and then begin the heel flap together. Please bring two sets of needles, so you can start your second sock during class.

In the second session we will finish the foot and work on toe shaping, then finish with the kitchener stitch to close the toe and finish your pair of socks.

Saturday, June 13th & 20th, 9:30am - 12:30pm

Marilyn is back to teach another wonderful all day workshop on Inkle Weaving!

You have seen the new books coming out lately; Inkle Weaving is hot! This portable loom offers the most intimate weaving experience around, where the weaver gets to feel the warp threads in the fingers with each weft pass. With Inkle Loom Weaving, color is front-and-center. This is the ‘original’ use for the inkle loom, no tablets involved. Students can use the full-sized tabletop loom-on-loan in this class for a commitment-free first experience. We will cover warp-faced plain weave and designing, as well as pick-up patterning bands.

Bands that are woven on the Inkle Loom are used for one-of-a-kind dog leashes, clothing trim, backpack bands, lanyards, camera straps, belts, hatbands… bands have 1001 uses!

Do you have leftover balls of yarn you don’t know what to do with? Do you have an idea for a project but don’t know how to plan it for your loom? This is the class for you. We will start by sorting your stash into a usable project. Then move on to how to use that stash yarn to make the project of your dreams. Have a project in mind, but don’t know what yarn? Yvonne will help you out through each step. Together we will go through step by step how to plan any project for your loom. If there is time, then we will start setting up your loom with your new project.
