Bee the leopard gecko and Cinnamon the African fat tail gecko were star ambassadors for a tour group yesterday! While both species have a similar body type, one is adapted to live in the desert while the other lives in the rainforest. Bee came to us from a hoarding case about 2 years ago, and Cinnamon was an owner surrender 5 years ago.

Bodhi is our beautiful reticulated python. She was found outdoors as a stray and has been up for adoption for over a year. Bodhi is a very friendly retic but this species needs an advanced and responsible keeper - even the nicest of retics have a very strong food response, and full grown Bodhi will be 15+ feet!

***Here's some extra information for anyone concerned that these turtles are not being released into the wild: While we always want wild turtles to stay wild, these were kept as pets and surrendered to our shelter. Releasing pet turtles into the wild is dangerous because captive turtles lack basic survival skills and often lose their natural fear of humans, making them easy targets for predators or dangers. They can also spread new diseases to wild populations. We are allowed to adopt out these types of turtles and, in this case, that is the best plan for them. If they were wild turtles, we would absolutely want to keep them that way. We want to do what's best for them!***

We had a 7 year old female western hognose snake surrendered this weekend. She has some opacity to her left cornea, which looks like either scarring or lipid keratopathy. She also has some impacted scent glands. We weren’t able to easily express these, so we’ll likely sedate her in the next few weeks so we can clear them and more fully investigate.

Please note that we are NOT accepting applications for her at this time! We have many other snakes currently up for adoption though!
