Dear TRY Coalition Family,

We are excited to invite you to our next Coalition Meeting
Join us on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 for a powerful convening centered on the theme: ACEs, PACEs, and Resilience

We will explore the connections between Adverse Childhood Experiences (from the film), Positive and Protective Childhood Experiences (child's view), and the resilience strategies (SIDA) that are transforming lives.

We are also honored to welcome a very special guest presenter:
Ontario Joyner
Director, Office of Survivor Care for the City of Durham
Mr. Joyner will share insight from the frontlines of survivor-centered care in our community, a perspective that speaks directly to the work we do every day.

Kitchen Table Conversation - Autism Awareness Month
If you weren't able to join us live, the conversation is ready for you NOW.
Our Founder & CEO Dr. Wanda Boone sat down with State Representative Zack Hawkins and the Perkins, Mitchell, and Booth families for an honest, heart-centered fireside chat on what it means to raise, support, and advocate for children on the autism spectrum.
This is the kind of conversation every parent, neighbor, educator, and policymaker needs to hear.
Watch it now below. https://youtu.be/cVETmDuWLl8

Fireside Chat | Autism Awareness
TONIGHT 4/27/26 6:30 – 7:30 PM
Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87648750802
Our young people have spoken — through art, through words, through pledges. "We are all different in some way and that is something to celebrate."
Tonight we continue the conversation with a special Fireside Chat featuring State Representative Zach Hawkins, who brings not only his voice as a legislator but the heart of a father.
We will hear from families parents and siblings about what it truly means to love, support, and grow alongside someone with autism. We will also learn how Coping Together can equip families with tools for resilience and connection.
This is a safe, honest, and uplifting space for our community. Come ready to listen, share, and be encouraged.
All are welcome. Bring a family member. Bring a neighbor.

5 YEARS OF DATA. 4 CRISES. WHAT OUR COMMUNITY RESPONSE MUST INCLUDE. WE BEGIN WITH VIOLENCE.
Slide 1 — 9 homicides. 22 people shot. 7 shootings in 7 days.
The numbers are real. The question CONTINUES: what do we do?
Slide 2 — Why We Are Here Durham's crisis demands a local answer —Five years of our own data. Four crises converging in the same zip codes.
Slide 3 — The Full Picture Five years of Durham arrest data broken down by race, gender, age, and zip code. Every pattern documented.
Slide 4 — Race: Durham's population is 37% Black...meaning.
Slide 5 — Gender: Female charges are rising.
Slide 6 — Age Peak charges: ages 25–34. But juvenile charges are UP 12%
Slide 7 — Trends Overall: Charges are down 19% over 5 years. But two zip codes are barely moving.
Slide 8 — Crime by Zip: The same 4 zip codes carry the burden.
Slides 9–14 — Zip Code Profiles: A deep look at each zip — what crimes, what trends, what interventions are needed.
Slide 15 — What Must Happen Violence cannot be solved at one level. Individual. Family. Community. Policy. All four must move together. That is the socio-ecological model — and that is TRY's approach. UBUNTU - Space and recognition for all!
