Create Gwinnett, in partnership with the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District and The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning, is excited to invite artists to submit qualifications for the Gwinnett Place Public Art & Placemaking Design Development.

We’re selecting three artists with complementary creative practices to explore the district, engage with the community, collaborate with one another, and develop ideas for high-impact public art and placemaking opportunities.

🎨 3 artists selected
💰 $5,000 per artist
📅 Applications due September 21, 2026 at NOON

We’re interested in artists working across 2D, 3D, interdisciplinary, experiential, and other placemaking-focused practices. Previous public art or placemaking experience is preferred, but not required.

And this is a Request for Qualifications, so NO project concepts are required to apply. We want to see your work, understand your practice, and learn what perspective you could bring to the team.

We are taking a moment to spotlight and thank our key partners in implementing the Creative Economy Plan across Gwinnett County: First up, Gwinnett County Government!

Create Gwinnett’s work is rooted in a long-standing partnership with Gwinnett County Government and a shared commitment to strengthening the county’s creative economy.

That partnership began with Gwinnett County’s Creative Economy Master Plan and continues today as Create Gwinnett works to translate that vision into action. Through our 2026–2028 Action Plan, we are advancing priorities around creative placemaking and public art, artist and creative professional support, community partnerships, arts access, and stronger connections across Gwinnett’s creative ecosystem.

In 2026, that work includes:
- Leading placemaking planning initiatives along Jimmy Carter Boulevard and the new Norcross-Lilburn Trail.
- Partnering to develop new creative economy programs and resources for the entire county.
- Breaking new ground by bringing together Gwinnett County Government, municipalities, and community improvement districts to pursue federal funding for large-scale, collaborative creative placemaking for the first time in Gwinnett's history.

We’re grateful for Gwinnett County Government’s continued investment in Create Gwinnett and in building a stronger, more connected creative Gwinnett.

Over the past few weeks, we've been out across Gwinnett asking residents:

What does a more creative Gwinnett look like to you?

The answers have been inspiring—and they're helping shape several community arts and creative placemaking projects currently in the works.

Now we'd love to hear from you.

Does a more creative Gwinnett mean more public art? More festivals and events? Spaces for artists and makers? Creative gathering places? Murals? Live music? Something else entirely?

Share your ideas in the comments below!

Your feedback helps us better understand what matters most to our communities and informs future creative placemaking and community arts initiatives across Gwinnett County.
