Hi everyone. Kim Massengill here. I just wanted to take a moment to say that it means so much to me to be a part of this amazing GFL family.
Yesterday at Cheer Off, I was truly in awe of each and every cheerleader. They were all so talented and full of incredible spirit! They are the epitome of what every cheerleader should strive to be. I saw some of the most beautiful smiles I’ve ever seen. Their attitudes were so positive and their energy was incomprarable. They were so supportive of the others on their team, their coaches and even the other squads. What an amazing gift these children are to this world…. and to me! Thank you so much for sharing them with us.
I also want to thank all of the coaches. You have all done an unbelievable job coaching these kids and giving them so much love and support. You have, no doubt, put in many tireless hours of planning, teaching, driving back and forth to practices, wiping away tears, fixing hair, giving words of encouragement and so much more. I want you all to know, it does not go unnoticed. You have all done an incredible job with these kids and I know they appreciate you as much as I do. Please pamper yourselves today. You all deserve it!!
I also want to give a huge shout out to all the volunteers at Cheer off. You were all so helpful and this event could not happen without you. There are so many of you to thank that I can’t possibly list you all but you know who you are.
I really want to give a BIG shout out to Valerie Darby. You may not know her because she likes to stay ‘in the background’ for the most part. When I say she is amazing, it really doesn’t cover how much she puts into this program. She was my assistant for many years and she is still the VP assistant. She works very hard behind the scenes and deserves heartfelt accolades!! Thank you Valerie for all that you do!
Another shout out goes to Samantha and Tony Gill. They were a huge help this year in particular. Most people have no idea of the preparation that goes into cheer off. They both helped more than anyone knows.
I also want to mention that Holly Sammons took over as VP of Cheerleading when I retired and has done a wonderful job. She could not be there this year but we all missed her tremendously.
I just want to close by saying the GFL is one of the most astonishing organizations around. I know there are people that may believe different for one reason or another but when you really look what this organization does for these children, cheerleaders AND football players, it is truly an organization like no other….very much in a league of its own. I am so grateful to be a part is wonderful family.
You are ALL such an amazing gift! I may have retired as VP of Cheerleading but this organization will forever hold a very special place in my heart. I will also keep coming back from time to time. You aren’t getting rid of me that easy. I’m so very honored this incredible event carries my name. I truly adore you all.
