Costumes, crowds, doorbells, strangers in masks... it's a lot for any kid, even more so for kids with sensory sensitivities.
A few things that can help:
🎃 Let them pick a costume based on comfort, not just the coolest character. Soft fabric over itchy fabric, always.
🎃 Skip the mask if it bothers them. Face paint or a hat still counts.
🎃 Practice at home first. Knock on your own door, practice "trick or treat" (or a card that says it), practice taking candy and saying thank you.
🎃 Use a visual schedule or simple countdown: costume on, walk to houses, come home.
🎃 Keep it short. Five houses that go well beats twenty that end in a meltdown.
🎃 Go earlier in the evening if crowds or darkness make it harder.

There's no one "right" way to do Halloween. Do the version that works for your family. 🧡
