North Shore Striders

North Shore Striders Be part of one of the oldest running clubs in the upper Midwest. We're A Club For Everyone! and the Young Athletes Foundation.

The North Shore Striders (NSS) running club started in 1968 and included legendary Duluthian Garry Bjorklund, a 1976 10,000 meter Olympian and two-time Grandma's Marathon Champion. The NSS organized many recreational running events and provided a community for area runners. In August 1976, the NSS decided to host an official marathon along the north shore of Lake Superior. On June 25, 1977 Grandma

's Marathon was born, forever rooting the NSS's legacy in the upper Midwest. After a 23-year hiatus, the North Shore Striders is being revived by an 11-person board of directors and funding for three years from Grandma's Marathon - Duluth, Inc. The new NSS will offer runners and fitness enthusiasts of all ages the following benefits:
- Discounted entry fees into many upper Midwest races (specific races to be announced)
- Frequent group runs/walks for members
- Youth programs for ages 18 and under
- News and updates from the local, regional and national running world
- Social functions, celebrity speaking events and educational opportunities for members only

And most importantly…

- A community of people who share the same passion for running and leading a healthy life!

As much as we would love to see everyone out racing tonight, we have to make sure that everyone remains safe. With our unseasonably hot temperatures for the Duluth-Superior area, we have decided to postpone the last race of the Tour de Feet tonight until next week.

The last race of the series will be on Thursday August 20th at 6pm at the Millennium Trail in Superior, WI.
