πŸ’™ International Day of Charity

Today, we celebrate the power of giving back and the difference we can make when we come together.

At Dubuque and Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity, generosity takes many forms, from volunteering on a build site or at the ReStore to donating to support affordable homeownership and critical home repairs in our community.

Every hour volunteered, every gift given, and every person who supports our mission helps us continue building homes, communities, and hope. 🏑

If you’ve been looking for a way to make a difference locally, we’d love to have you join us.

πŸ’™ We are incredibly grateful to the DRA for selecting Dubuque and Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity as a 2026 Core Grant Recipient!

We had a wonderful time celebrating alongside fellow community organizations at the grant reception and learning more about the incredible work happening throughout our region.

This multi-year grant will help support the continued development of Rosalynn Carter Place, bringing us closer to our goal of providing 14 local families with safe, quality, and affordable homeownership opportunities. 🏑

Thank you to the DRA for investing in our mission and in the future of affordable homeownership in our community. We are grateful for your continued partnership and support as we build homes, communities, and hope!

Homeownership creates benefits that last well beyond move-in day. 🏑 Habitat homeowners have seen stronger credit scores, an average of $1,800 more in liquid assets, and homes that have nearly tripled in value over time.

These outcomes show how affordable homeownership can help families build financial stability, grow equity, and create a stronger foundation for the future.

Andersen Windows + Doors has been a trusted partner of ours on several earlier builds. 🏠 The Rosalynn Carter Place Project presents a unique and historic opportunity to expand that partnership.

πŸͺŸ As we have shared earlier, Andersen Windows has pledged all windows for all 14 single-family homes at Rosalynn Carter Place. The positive impact from this commitment cannot be overstated. Donated goods and labor help us drive down construction costs, helping us maintain the momentum needed to drive the project forward on time and on budget.

❀️ πŸ’™ πŸ’œ We are proud of our partnership with Andersen Windows, and they are pleased to be making history with us at Rosalynn Carter Place. Please sit back and enjoy this Andersen-produced video!

On what would have been her 99th birthday, Dubuque/Jackson County Habitat for Humanity remembers former First Lady Rosalynn Carter. The namesake of our most ambitious project to date, we have sought to honor her memory and commitment to building shelter for all. When completed, Rosalynn Carter Place will contain 14 single- family homes, filled with 14 partner families. A fitting tribute to a woman who, with her husband, participated in over 4,000 Habitat for Humanity builds during their post-presidency lifetimes.

A strategic plan. Stronger leadership. Clear priorities. Lasting impact.

Those are just some of the outcomes Habitat for Humanity of Dubuque & Jackson County gained through Dupaco's Gift of Innovation program.

Through a partnership with The Innovation Lab, Dupaco provides service-based grants that help nonprofits tackle challenges and opportunities through guided innovation sessions.

When Habitat's leadership team recognized the need to evolve, they were eager to move forward but lacked a clear vision for how to get there. The Gift of Innovation provided the dedicated time, structure, and support needed to create a roadmap for the future.

As Executive Director Hilary Dalton shared, "The Gift of Innovation process came at a pivotal time, providing the structure, guidance, and confidence we needed to break through that standstill and begin moving forward with purpose."

Today, Habitat is putting its strategic plan into action and building momentum for long-term growth and impact.
