Three submissions. Three awards. A great week for the Greater Dubuque region!

Greater Dubuque Development Corporation has earned three 2026 Economic Development Awards from the Mid-America Economic Development Council, recognizing our work in talent attraction and retention and celebrating three decades of leadership and impact:

🏆 Economic Development Impact Award – Rick Dickinson, recognizing 30 years of leadership in the Greater Dubuque region

🏆 Marketing Program Award, Large Division – YOU can be great here Relocation Guide, helping prospective and new residents envision building a career and a life in the Greater Dubuque region

🏆 Workforce & Talent Award, Large Division – Distinctively Dubuque, helping newcomers and returning residents build the connections that turn relocation into long-term community attachment

President & CEO Jason White represented Greater Dubuque Development and our region at the Mid-America EDC Annual Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where the awards were presented this week.

These honors come just weeks after the International Economic Development Council also recognized the Relocation Guide and Distinctively Dubuque with 2026 Excellence in Economic Development Awards.

Five awards in 2026 between MAEDC and IEDC. Regional and international recognition for the work happening right here in the Greater Dubuque region.

And behind every one of them is something much bigger: the employers, local governments, educational institutions, nonprofits, investors, community leaders, and residents who work together to make the Greater Dubuque region a place where businesses and people can succeed.

We’re proud to see that work, and the people behind it, recognized across the Midwest and beyond.

🥉 And we’re not done yet!

Greater Dubuque Development is actually celebrating TWO 2026 Excellence in Economic Development Awards from the International Economic Development Council!! This time we’re shining the spotlight on our Bronze Award for the Distinctively Dubuque Newcomer Program in the Talent Development & Retention category.

More than 1,600 people have participated in Distinctively Dubuque since the program began, building connections to the people, places, organizations, and opportunities that make Greater Dubuque home. Recent participant feedback shows the impact: 100% feel welcomed in the community, 93% say Dubuque offers the quality of life they are seeking, and 91% say they are likely to stay in the region.

This recognition belongs to a deeply collaborative program. We’re proud to partner with Northeast Iowa Community College and grateful for the support of the City of Dubuque, DRA, and Dubuque County Board of Supervisors, whose investments help keep Distinctively Dubuque free for participants.

Attracting people to our region is only part of population growth. Helping them connect, belong, and choose to stay matters just as much.
